i wish i had... my wife dropped her ds and partially broke one of the hinges. so i ordered a shock replacement case from rhs and attempted to replace the case myself. notice i said "attempted to replace". i disassembled the ds with no problems, sorting each screw and piece and marking appropriately. the issue came when i was putting things back together. right from the start there were several pieces from the original case that didn't fit in the shock case. so i had to shave some of the plastic off from the shock case. one particular piece that didn't fit, not even close, was the round silver brace thingy that sits inside the left hinge. i left this out thinking it would not be an issue. well, i got the ds put back together with no problems. screwed in the last screw. opened the ds and instantly realized that the brace did indeed need to be inside that left hinge. so i began disassembling the ds for a second time. i got to where i had to feed the top screens flat ribbon through the left hinge and just my dumb luck it ripped in half. so i hand my wife my ds and tell her sorry i broke yours. am i gonna buy another ds for myself? not just yet. so my advice... be careful fixing your ds yourself.

Never sent my DS for repair, seems quite stable to me. Although I had an old DS lite which had one of the plastic hinges fall off. It totally pissed me off to see this hole which revealed the metal interior, but it wasn't such a big deal that I had to send it for repairs. Didn't seem like something they could repair either, unless they could melt plastic.

i have owned a regular ds and 2 ds lites and all three L buttons have gone out on them all... the old one nows wears a broken touch screen thanks to the cable guy... my black ds lite broke up in the top as well, had to rig it with metal plates so it wasn't just flimsy and flop around everywhere... plates are a pain to take in and out though, still works but L doesn't work... my white ds lite is still trucking with no L button (haven't had the cash to fix any of them)... it really sucks trying to find sweet spot on white ds L... doesn't work at all on black one though... irritates the hell out of me...

I've never sent mine in for repairs. The touch-screen is pretty messed up if you ask me. I lost a stylus so I just used a pencil. :s

No my Nintendo DS Lite has always worked perfectly fine. That is until my sister tore it up on accident. I didn't get a chance to send it in because she threw it away and later showed me where it was in the trash at because I didn't believe her.

Thankfully i am a lucky one i havent had to send my ds in for repairs it has held together real well, some of my friends on the other hand have tend to stop reading gba games and even freeze at the opening loading screens for some weird reason.

I really wanted to send my DS Lite in so that my shoulder buttons could get fixed, but the warranty expired and I really didn't want to get a new one. I'm ordering a tri-winged screwdriver off the internet so I can take it apart and clean it.

I have never taken my DS in for repairs. HOWEVER! My DSL did brake when..........I droped it in the water trying to get my lunch out while kayaking. LOL! Other than that my dses havent broken. I even droped the orignal ( i was one of the lucky ones to get it in metal ) and it never broke.

never.after seeing that one x-play episode where a gamecube survived and still worked after being dropped from a 20-foot height, smashed with a 10 lb weight, and hit with a sledgehammer, i was under the impression that all nintendo products are made of steel. my DS is still in almost perfect condition.

My DSLite had to be sent in because the L button crapped out on it. Then just recently I had to send my DSi in because the R button did the same thing. Odd thing is that both happened while I was playing Castlevania games. (Portrait of Ruin on the DSLite, Order of Ecclesia on the DSi.)
