Really? I haven't heard much about repairs of DS at all. In fact I never really thought about it. Most of the time they last away, you'll probably have to change the battery sometime. It should last about 500 charges. I've had mine for about 1.5 years and it's had no problems as of yet.

My DS is as good as new (other than the smudges on the touch screen). I keep good care of it because if it gets damaged, theres no way I'm getting another one.

Mine is still playable. However, the hinge mechanism seems too have spoiled. Was wondering if it's better to buy a brand new one or just send my DS for repair... =(

I've never sent mine for repair but i might part exchange it for a DSi when the battery breaks...or the hinge snaps apart, its got a chunk missing and you can see the metal inside. :foldarms:

I've never sent mine for repair although my DS is dead. I just ordered the trigram screw drive to open up the device to see what is wrong with it.

Eh... I don't have to just yet but I probably will have to soon. My first DS has the broken L Button and some sound isn't getting through. Although my cousin's DS needs to be fixed. The hinges are broken on his pretty badly...

I have sent several in to Nintendo to be repaired/exchanged.I have'nt had any trouble with them.I have had some games that wouldn't read and after cleaning the contacts on the games they worked fine.Did you you look into the DS game slot to see if there are any bent pins? This is usually caused by pulling the games out instead of pushing them in to release them.I can tell you from experience that this is not covered by warranty.I have also sent one in that had the same L Trigger problem and it's been OK.I have one now that the R Trigger works intermittently and I'm going to send it back.

Maybe you should get a case of something for it. the DS isn't that fragile but i the buttons get messed up easily. The DS isn't easily broken like the system.but the buttons get messed up easily if you leave them the wrong places like a heavy backpack.

I had to send it in two times cause my baby sister broke it. Now she has her own DS and uses her own most of the time. And it's really weird cause she's ONLY 3 years old and she knows how to use it REALLY well.

The screen on my ds got messed up, so I called Nintendo, and they told me that they'd fix it for free, all I had to do was pay for shipping. Normally they need your DS ID but they let it slide for me.
