Im a huge fan of the game. I know theres a jap version out somewhere, but is it playable if you dont know jap? Seriously can't wait for a english version.I'm sure theres a lot of people that play the PC version. ANyone try it out yet?

It is playable if you don't know jap... Just that you will have to use a walkthrough to get through the game. Also, it helps if you have played the PC version, as some skills(of the ones I know of) are more or less the same. Some of the cards are the same, with slight differences.And I am not too sure if it will be coming out in English... but there is an unofficial patch already released. But I heard that the Merchant class doesn't work and causes the game to freeze on you.

yea i just tried it, intro is soooo long. Seems ok so far, i mighthave to wait for the100% english patch

I had test nihon version of ragnarok and i was very sad because on ds is a RPG game. I prefert the mmorpg on PC.

There is a translation patch that translates most of the items, skills etc but not the story line script, so if u just want to play it without caring much about the story you can download the patch.

honestly i love the RO mechanics, but the storyline is soooo long and tedious. Really needs pvp, or even WOE. It's pretty buggy the gameplay if you ask me. You can play online in parties of 3 apparently but thats it. The "Online" in Ragnarok Online DS apparently means nothing.

Well... considering as how it's on the DS, WoE would be pretty hard don't you think? Plus, if it's WoE, it'd only be like you, and your guild controlled by AI. PvP would be nice, but it can get laggy at times, especially on the DS if using WiFi.And the storyline is a bit too generic to me... Bad guys need girl with special ability/item. Good guy finds girl. Good guy goes off on an adventure, bunch of crap happens. Girl gets captured, Good guy goes to save. Good guy wins.Or vice-versa with the genders. Hey, you never know.

It follows the RO mechanics pretty well. Still an exact RO clone would've been really awesome. Shouldn't the DS with WiFi be capable of an MMORPG

I don't think there is enough room to make it an MMORPG for the DS... even if all of them maps are condensed, there is just still way too much information for a puny DS cartridge. A lot would have to be reduced, like number of monsters, map sizes, items, etc.Keep in note, all imo.

i rather enjoyed the ragnarok mmorpg and i think it is possible to make into mmorpg but it would have to have some thing large that plugged into the GBA slot for memory and such and prolly very small servers kinda like runescape (i am in no way implying i like runescape it sucked) were there is like a thousand servers and you just pick which one you want to load in to and theyd have a rather low player cap but i think its possible but it wont happen

I did. I know nothing of jap but I love the game (found the english patch though 
for my computer)! It's awesome. I just use eng patch version on computer if im stuck on jap

This game for me can gets boring real fast, it is somewhat similar to the online version, you kill mobs, they spawn and the whole cycle goes over and over again. Storyline seems interesting though, so if you do know how to read Jap, go ahead and try. For those who cant, try your luck or wait for the english version which somehow i doubt it will happend. But i am quite sure (at least for me) it is not worth buying but might kill some time.

Well they came out with a cell phone version. Its greatly reduced but still playable. So who knows its a possibility. I played ragnarok some time back and I enjoyed it. I hope they come out with something like that for the DS.

I played it a little bit and it was good. I stopped playing it because it really takes away from the game when you have to keep referring to a game guide. I am planning on picking it up again when the full Eng Patch is released.
