Resident Evil used to be scary when i was younger but Resident Evil 4 didn't have any scare factors. You can always see around you in 4 which you couldn't do previously. The scary part was NOT being able to see what is in front of you. Left 4 Dead is only scary if you are playing with friends who suck at the game. You are scared that you will have to go back to save their sorry butt. Usually nothing scares me in a video game anymore because they just aren't in real life. Zombie comes up and starts trying to chew on me in real life and i think i would cry. ; ;

For my part i found doom 3 definetly scary because of all the graphic work and music ! that really scared you to switch off the light and shoot some monster without any vision ! brrrrr !!!!Resident evil 1 was great (sorry for all of you) because now i guess the graphics are too old and the action to slow for you ! but believe me when the game comes out and i started to play in my room during the night with no one inside :gs: the interest was better !!! and also it was the first one like that (i don't speak about doom or alone in the dark) it's just about the generation you were born !!

I'd have to go with Left 4 Dead, it was supposed to be a scary zombie game but it wasn't to me. It may be startling when you turn around and a hunter jumps right into your face though.

Hey honestly i dont think L4D was even supposed to be scary. I mean, there's not a lot of other choices of things to charge you and try to eat you alive are there?I think RE4 wasn't as scary as it looked though (in agreement to other statements). One or two parts that werent even supposed to be scary scared me though. I was in the village in the start and I killed everyone but i could still hear the music that tells me an enemy is near. I set up my sniper rifle and was looking all over the village and couldnt find him so i packed it up, turned around, and WTF he was right behind me -.-

Kind of a spin-off of this thread, I'd like to know some games that were supposedly scary, but just...well, weren't.For me, Doom 3. I know it wasn't supposed to be terrifying or anything, but it's so predictable, it worked for the old-school Dooms but it's just tired out now.I'm sick of imps teleporting behind me every five seconds, only when I turn around to kill them, a revenant busts through the door (silently, I might add) to shoot me in the back with rockets. That's not scary, just annoying.Though I will say that I did kinda go "Ahh wtf" a few times here and there, but I wasn't really 'scared' by the game, just suprised once in awhile.Any others? I know there are.

personally i thought dead space and resident evil: the umbrella chronicles would be scary (the umbrella chronicles vignette in re4 was kind of spooky)umbrella chronicles turned out to be a dumb arcade shooter while the poorly designed monsters in dead space made it rather boring than scaryto an extent even re4 didnt do much to scare playersthe only time i got perturbed was when i fought salazar's verdugo in the underground sewer place otherwise the game was not scary because the way enemies were portrayed flying in different directions after being struck by shotgun shells made the killing look unreal!i thought bioshock would be scary but it was pretty plain and boringeven dead rising wasnt scaryi thought the game made fun of itself in the way our guy could use just about anything to fling and cut through flailing zombiesthe even funnier was the fact that a teeny thin metal pipe did about the same damage as a huge tv set when thrown at enemies

I haven't played Doom 3 so I wouldn't know. Resident Evil 4 wasn't scary really but still loads of fun. Well, most of the Re games aren't scary but if you et scared pretty easily, it could scare you. I used to be like that.

Resident Evil 5. More of an action game but I still think it's an amazing game.

I'd have to say F.E.A.R. 2. It was overhyped as being a scary game, like the original. Unlike the original, however, most of the scary parts were somewhat predictable, or bordered on the simply strange (Those who have seen the end know what I'm talking about).

I agree with tou about Doom 3.Left 4 dead is another game. Is a very good game, great gameplay and teamwork, but it wasn't scary at all

doom 3 got very repetitive and was the first flash light simulator

Dead Space was pretty scary at first, but if you're not playing with only yourself around, it doesn't seem all too scary to me

Y'all say that these games aren't scary, but I know y'all play during the day time with the lights on =p. lol okay.I didn't think Left4Dead was meant to be scary. It seems to be made with a zombie movie feel.But I have to say... when I'm playing, and then I get separated from your mates, my adrenaline is fxing running like crazy.Resident Evil 4 and 5 kinda deviated from the old RE-feel of the game. I still find the first 3 scary. 4 was fun. 5 was just hilarious.I read mentions of Silent Hill. That game was psychotic... I felt insane after playing that awhile.If you guys want something scary, try out Fatal Frame.

Fatal Frame. Any of them. Walking around, taking pictures of ghosts that THREATENINGLY inch towards me is not scary. The fact that I kill them as a little girl with a camera doesn't help any.
