I was wondering, If the price of the iphone fell and the price of talk and download packages on it fell could it replace a regular pc and landline?I'd love to own one but I think that the amount of money to use it is ridiculous. Are the prices coming down fast enough?

I have an iphone - no way in hell will it replace regular pc and landline even if they came right down in price - the sheer amount of work required to get it usable as just a decent phone is hugeYou Need to Jailbreak the phone just to be able to get a Video Recorder - Be able to Send MMS - look all in all its good for music thats it the apps arent great if you are looking for a good phone the HTC Dream is looking to be far better than an iphone The google phone should have more apps than the iphone in no time as it runs "android" an open source operation system so anyone can download it and make apps - for the i phone you need to register make the apps then they have to pass through apple its a pain have a look around there are many better options than the iphone

I don't think the iphone is that great and it still costs a whole lot. Especially now in this economy we should think about saving money rather than splurging. The only good thing I can say about the iphone is that it lets you go online even when there is no wifi connection available. Then again it has very limited capabilities like loading java and opening files. The batteries also die out fast if you use it to go online. If it was up to me I would always stick to my PC :).

I think the iphone is just so overrated. First, it's so costly just because its from Apple. Second, you can't make a full use of it unless you jailbreak it. As for the iphone 3G, what sense does it make to make a video call and no front camera? And it can never replace all.

Nah... I love my iPhone, but I agree with Nikeboy in that you can't harness the full potential of the phone unless you jailbreak it (which I have not done), AT&T requires TWO additional monthly charges to have and use the phone. I think's $30 for the iPhone plan PLUS $20 for unlimited txt.The screen scratches really easy so you have to put the protective lenses on them but even the factory ones, when applied properly, still take away from the sensitivity of the touch screen.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE ipod touch, but I have a Blackberry Curve as my cell simply because I get awesome deals with T Mobile that with ATT would cost probably twice as much for the same thing. SOoooo I just carry both of them around with them...no big deal since i'm a purse addict and always have pouches to carry my stuff in!

I don't think the iPhone would ever replace a pc, becuase it would never be able to perform as well as a desktop computer or laptop.

No, i don't see it doing so.I prefer my computer/console a lot more than anything like the itouch/phone.While the apps are fun, i don't really enjoy it as much.

There is no way the iphone is replacing other phones even if the price is dropping. There are other far better phones that are lower price.

even if it does replace everything, for now, something newer, better and probably smaller will come out in the next few months.

The only reason that the iPhone is popular and considered, "omigawdamazingtacular," is because it is made by Apple Inc. which has whored itself out via advertising. Now if the iPhone wasn't highly dependent on applications, extremely fragile, had more memory, and was overall, less sucky, I would consider your query (HK-47 much?) logical. The only reason I called Apple a whore is because it most likely has the technology to produce a way better iPhone but won't for money. I hate Apple.

Nah I don't think iPhone can replace anything but the cellphone and all of their features. It's kind of hard to even imagen having a smaller computer then I already have. And to all of you haters out there: iPhones are freaking awesome and they look good too! :gs: Couldn't even think of going back to my old one.
