Too be honest I never found a PHYSICAL copy lol I got a soft version(pirated). Its a really good game but personally I felt that the first one is better. But in the series the 3rd is probably the best, most people agree with this(on monster rancher fan sites).

I played the game too (via emulator though) but it got too repetitive for my liking after a while. It especially bothered me how I never had full control over the monster during arena fights and when you send it off on training (the latter involving a lot of savestating and reloading since it was just pure luck whether the monster was successful). Adding control would have made this game into a pretty decent action fighter as well. Also, I found that the ability to create monsters from discs lost its novelty as well because you'd always end up with very similar monsters every time. With an emulator, I could make an arbritrary ISO file with UltraISO and that would count as a unique disc. However, I would still only get about three types of monsters out of them.

I've played this game :( It's fun, but it will need some times to make your pet (monster) to be strong and won the Cups competitionI've once won rank A competition, but my pet died not long after winning :(

You've probably sent your monster on errantries while it's still young. I still have a copy, fair condition. It was a great game; unlocking monster breeds is fun and challenging(*cough*Beaclon*cough). The thing that got me frustrated was during my early career; the lack of funds and all that.

I have a really great Phoenix in the second monster rancher game. My phoenix had max stats in a few areas and won every cup that it was applicable for.

Yeah I played that game. The interesting parts are its monsters variety and the way of breeding strong ones. This game is even fun when we battle the monsters with friends.
