Personally I think that putting GTA on the DS is a smart move and a bad move.Good: because most parents buy their kids GTA games even though its violent, and the company knows that.Bad: because the DS is supposed to be a child/young teen system for mostly clean and somewhat educational games and the GTA franchise is neither of these.thanks in advance for your view and opinions.

no opinion at all.If games are too childish, no one like ds.However if games are too violent, the range of the age of playing ds will be decrease

Yeah, but you're forgetting that alot of adults own a DS too. And creating a diverse selection of games can only help the DS market. And haven't we all gotten used to GTA's style by now? We all know what to expect from Rockstar. It doesn't even look all that impressive btw, but I'll try it anyways.

it will bring down its image a little from the parents who actually see the rating of the game. but its image will go up in the eyes of people who want more games like this on the ds.

Plus I have a feeling it's gonna be cleaned up a bit, since it is coming out for the DS.Though I am looking forward to the more old school birds eye view again.

True, it likely won't be as gory, and certainly won't have those hilarious ragdoll effects like on GTA4 :shiftyninja:I have read some positive reviews on the game saying that it took full advantage of the DS' capabilities, and is as long as any of the other ones. (article)

I doubt it will bring the wii's image down. Rockstars manhunt 2 didn't bring the wiis image down. Parents are unlikely to really feel like not buying a system because of a violent game being available, since most likely if the parent is buying the console they also will most likely be buying games and since GTA:CW is rated M the only way for a kid to buy it is to have an adult present. Most likely this will just encourage people who still don't have a ds to buy one.

You nay sayers are just oblivious to how good this game is... this game is gonna be great, I still play GTA 2 for my pc, the classic top down is always great, I even play GTA: SA in the top down cinematic just to get those old memories back. When has rockstar stead us wrong? I am expecting a lot from this gameAnd yes it will revolutionize the DS because more adults will buy it.

There is a lot of "older" people who like the DS. For my part, I'm 40. So games like GTA is something I look forward to.

Who told you that? Although I´ve to agree there is a lot of child-orientated software outthere, there are still tons of games clearly aiming at an older audience (not all of them "M"-rated though). With an installbase far beyond 100 million one can´t believe the DS to be supposed to be a child/teenage-system.

You nay sayers

What naysayers? There are none that have posted in this thread.

are just oblivious to how good this game is...

Not everybody likes GTA style games. Not always because of the violence, rather the gameplay itself.

I even play GTA: SA in the top down cinematic just to get those old memories back.

Why? It's harder to see what you're doing and the game feels much more immersive when you can actually see what's going on up close.

When has rockstar stead us wrong?

Earthworm Jim 3D (N64)Oni (PS2)Surfing H3O (PS2)Those ring any bells?

And yes it will revolutionize the DS because more adults will buy it.

A (potentially) wider consumer base # revolutionizing something.

Also, aiming a video game at adults, isn't necessarily a good idea. The PSP came out with an "urban" and "mature" reputation and it's wreaked havoc on it's image.

I doubt that one game will have the same the same effect that countless games have had on the PSP.I like to think of this game as a breath of fresh air, not as a new step. I mean, the adventure games were cute, and nice but eventually people want something more. No, I do not think this means that the DS is going to take the PSP route in history. I just think they're trying to open the DS to further ages, and convince adults(If they don't already own one) to buy a DS. If anything I think this game will be good for the DS. It's pretty fun and the shooting/driving scenes are very cute and hilarious but still gory and intense. Despite how much it says fuck.

You were the naysayer saying that you don't think it is impressiveNot liking GTA is okay, not being able to understand that it is an extremely difficult game to make, and that the fact they made it so well should never be ignoredAnd no those games don't ring bells. What rings bells for me are 4 of the top selling games on Xbox/360, and PS/PS2/PS3 i.e. GTA2, GTA3, GTA:SA, GTA 4, and now finally we have a GTA game coming to DS. Watch the sales, that's all I say.Edit: http://www.metacriti...tochinatownwarsmetacritic gave this game a 95, nothing else matters.

I think it will do the DS good. The DS is already very successful with the children and with this they can appease the older crowd, the GTA fans, and possibly the chinese people too (a game about them).

About time a good game came out for the DS even though the last GTA I enjoyed was GTA 2 ( I loved my youth) anyway this will boost the DS in the mind of many I know of a few people who didn't buy the DS because of the lack of games now that you have chrono trigger and GTA they have gotten one.

The DS is excellent in the fact that it caters to all audiences and gets away with it.It's down to the parents if they don't want kids to play violent games.

This is a game that does not look all too appealing, in my opinion. I suppose Rockstar wants to build up a healthy following amongst handheld gamers as well, but the move just seems dumb for both parties involved. Something interesting I thought about just now is if this will be the start of a trend, in which we see a rising number of more 'mature' titles being made for the DS and Wii. Any thoughts on that?

I don't know if we'll see many more good ones, but if you haven't tried this game, try it, it's currently the highest rated DS game EVER and we'll have to see this Sunday how to weekend sales and the past week sales have gone, but from what I know it's been a huge seller. I think this was an attempt of rockstars, which succeeded, but who knows if they'll release more GTA games for the DS/Wii. A Wii gta would be pretty interesting.

I dont think it will be too bad, If anything its good, its bringing in some people that like GTA games but didn't like the DS before it came out but just because they bring out this game dosn't mean tht peopel will stop gettign DS games.

You were the naysayer saying that you don't think it is impressive

And that means I'm "oblivious" too? Sorry if I don't jump on the "GTA IS DA BEST EVAR!!!" bandwagon. It's a good series, but it's not perfect, despite what you may think.

Not liking GTA is okay, not being able to understand that it is an extremely difficult game to make, and that the fact they made it so well should never be ignored

Just about any game is hard to make, and do not assume that I don't understand what goes into making a game, that is what I went to school for kthnx. Besides that has nothing to do with the topic.

And no those games don't ring bells. What rings bells for me are 4 of the top selling games on Xbox/360, and PS/PS2/PS3 i.e. GTA2, GTA3, GTA:SA, GTA 4, and now finally we have a GTA game coming to DS. Watch the sales, that's all I say.

EDIT: misread. Doesn't mean all of Rockstar's games are gold. I cited examples.Basically I was saying that it wasn't gonna bring down the DS' image because we've all gotten used to GTA by now and what to expect. Do not misconstrue that.

It is quite possibly the most racist videogame campaign ever. I work in retail and the advertising propaganda they sent us was so terrible; a greasy Chinese takeout box filled with fortune cookies telling people the release date and they even sent a visual stand that was reqorked off of a previously released poster, the difference is that the eyes apparently were not squinty enough and so they replaced the eyes with slants.
