Well there is a new Zelda game coming just been announced at GDC by Iwata. There are a few screen shots on the web and a short video.Ok a train in a zelda game now that has to be something can't wait to see what they do with that, also you can see you get a sidekick that helps you our and you tell him how to move with the touch screen which looks cool. Other then that it looks a lot like Phantom of the Hourglass but no water. It has been said that the train will be like the boat in Phantom of the Hourglass so we shall see.So what do you think? Here is the press release:

The new The Legend of Zelda™: Spirit Tracks game that Iwata announced will utilize the intuitive touch control of Phantom Hourglass in an all new adventure that will please longtime Zelda™ fans while keeping the game accessible to all DS owners. The concept behind this Zelda game includes utilizing a steam locomotive to travel around the world, switching Phantom and Link to explore the dungeons, and solving puzzles using new items.

Ovesh thanks for editing your original post. I feel iffy about the new Zelda game. I don't know if I like the train. I still picture link being the amazing hero that he was in Link To The Past. Link as a conductor makes me a little sad.

I've been wondering, any idea on whether this would be a DS game or a DSi game? This would give me a reason to get a DSi, though.

A DSi is just another type of DS. They both play DS games. As for this Zelda, I wonder why in the world does Link look like a mail man? I guess hard times have fallen in Hyrule and he needs to make some rupees.

With the education he had to pay for to learn how to operate a train, I'm not surprised that he had to get a second job.

The DSi is going to have its own exclusive games that can only be played on a DSi and not a DS, because they utilize its "extra" features. Phantom Hourglass used all the features that the regular DS had to offer, so I was pondering whether they added something to do with the camera which would make it a DSi exclusive.

I never played the other DS Zelda (I even forgot what it is called). Maybe sometime I'll play that one and this when it comes out. The 2D Zeldas are still my favorite.

I'm totally bias against the new LOZ games starting with wind waker, excluding twilight princess, Phantam hourglass, etc. the graphics totally sucks you have to use a stylus and DS and stuff. they should make more games in the style of TP

As soon as I heard about this it made me want to go out and buy a DS. I hope it turns out great ... although im not so sure about the train. It just won't feel like a zelda game with a train.

Really? I actually think the new look is really good and original I like the cartonish touch makes me fell like I am playing a classic game . I was happy this game is going on this route. I was also happy they are changing the theme but I am not sure trains is the right way to go.

Wow, I'm super excited for this. Thanks for posting the links or I wouldn't have even known it was coming out! Phantom of the Hourglass has been one of my favourite DS games so far, so hopefully this one is good too!

I'm not sure if I can get used to the idea of Link riding on a train. It just seems so unnatural for him to not be on foot running all over Hyrule. Even in Ocarina of Time I never really liked using Epona, it takes the fun out of exploring and running around slicing those zombie guys up when it gets dark out. ;]I do not know much about this game aside from the trailer, hopefully if nothing else it will be more challenging than the last few entries into the Zelda series.

well my opinion is that if they can make it sorta as "innovative" as how they made phantom it should be pretty goodthe producers have generally madee good story lines for all the zelda games

Wind waker, while being a huge departure from the N64 graphics, harkens back to Link to the Past and the handheld LoZ games in many graphical ways, and improved upon the gameplay of OoT. The Phantom Hourglass was a follow up of that style, while not as impressive graphics, still utilized the DS touch screen capabilities (It has a touch screen and stylus, hello use it!) that so many games ignore completely. Twilight Princess was a game made for those fans whining and complaining about the new directions Zelda was heading, and while it was very enjoyable both in gameplay and graphics, suffered from a lack of original material. The game payed homage too much to OoT while failing to innovate enough. Now I don't know much about this new game for the DS. Some of the aspects sound unappealing to me: Link as a train conductor? But I have played games from the series that I did not end up enjoying (Majora's Mask) so I will probably play this one too :P

I was really hoping that the new Zelda game would be out for the Wii. I loved Wind Waker's graphics so much, so I was hoping it'd be out for the Wii. In WW I'd just stand around on an island or in the middle of the sea to look at all the polished little details. Reverting it to the tiny screens of a DS doesn't do it justice in my opinion, so I'm kinda bummed that Spirit Tracks came out on the DS.Other than that, has anyone noticed the odd logo of ST? Usually the new Zelda game always has some sort of object in the title, like for WW it was the Boat, for OoT it was the Shield, for MM it was the Mask etc. ST just seems to have the name of the game in the same font as Phantom Hourglass, which looks utterly boring. Maybe the logo is still in development? I'm expecting either tracks or a train in the logo.

Good or bad, It's Link and Zelda!I will buy it, register it (to see if there are any free promo items), and play it.I don't much care for trains, (I never got the thrill of the train around the christmas tree), but I can see the possibilities of adding train type switching and such to a video game.We will see. I've been pleased so far with the Zelda franchise.Jimbo

In case no one else noticed, the video showed LOZ:ST playing on a DSi. Sooo I'm assuming that it will make use of the DSi features but won't be DSi exclusive. It's still too early to make DSi exclusive games.I will probably get the game. Like all other LOZ games, I enjoyed them.Only thing I don't understand is... if it follows WW and PH story, where does all the land come for trains? :o
