Am I the onlyone who thought Smash Bros. was Waaaay overrated.I mean Tekken, soul calibur and Street fighter were much better games than this very simplistic fighter.don't be to angry, its just my opinion.

Why would anyone be angry ??I have to disagree though it is one of my favorite games you tried and make it a fighter when it much more then that it is like a royal rumble in wrestling just with Nintendo characters what could go wrong. I agree that like most of the games you mentioned it hasn't evolved that much and I think the first one for snes is as good as the new one but I think the same about street fighter 2 and 4.The really great thing about SSB is the multilayer you can have four friends battling out which none of the games you mentioned has and with online you can have even more people at the same battle.

Smashbros must be overrated beacuse I have never heard of any other game on Cube people wanted to buy. Game Cube was a fiasco, that luckily didn't last long.

Yeah i agree the game is just the same thing over and over again eventually it gets really boring and you have to buy a new game.

Ultimately, Smash Bros. is a party game. An awesome party game. Putting Mario and Link into an arena and demanding the two to pummel the hell out of each other sounds like a winning scenario to me, and I'm sure many others will agree since it's working out well for Nintendo. It wasn't meant to be taken seriously, but I do play Brawl competitively and it's really fun. Mechanically, the three games are radically different from each other (number of characters, movesets, controls, items, stages, unlockables) but it isn't hard to understand why one would dismiss the three games as "being the same;" you do the same thing in all of the games, but in different ways. I will admit that while Brawl was the purest form of fanservice since Sailor Moon, in summary, games like Smash Bros. encourage developers to take risks (it didn't use a traditional fighting game scheme, either); it's far from overrated. It deserves most of the praise it gets

I very much agree with biffyslags here. The SSB series was not meant to be a game to shatter the barriers of fighting games, it was designed with their consumers in mind. It's a very simple game and one of the few that you can just pick up for the first time and not be horribly lost and confused about what is going on. Unlike most fighting games, there are no long-winded button combinations or elaborate movements you must memorize to play the game effectively. It's a straightforward beat-em-up style game that everybody can enjoy, no matter how young or how old. It doesn't take a ridiculous amount of determination or skill to become a competent player, but at the same time can be nearly impossible to master. A great game, no matter your talent for fighters.

I think it's a really fun game. It's not fun on your own, but with friends, it's the best. When we play, something funny always seems to happen, so it's always interesting.IMO i don't think you can really compare it to games like Street Fighter or Tekken, because they're different type of fighting game.

I think all of the SSBs are great, simply because of it's style and characters involved. In the means of a legitimate fighting game, it's not as good as Tekken or Soul Caliber, I agree, but overall, SSB wins

Super Smash brothers may seem overated but when you start playing it with friends time just flies by. Personally, I don't enjoy other fight games like Soul Calibur. At times it can be fun but I get bored of it really quick.

I believe Smash Bros. is overrated. I own it but after collecting all of the characters and maps you have become too good at the game and no one else wants to play it with you and it ends up collecting dust on your shelf until someone else comes to borrow it. At least that is what happened to me. If they had everything unlocked from the begining then it would be a much better game.

The reason why heaps of people like the SSB games, were that it was hella fun to battle your freinds. You may not play the single player much, but I can say for sure that there is more people out there that save the SSB for when freinds come over.

I don't know. I actually really like the game. I'm really bad at it, but I still think it's fun, and I don't think it's overrated. But I can see why some people would think it is. xP

Super Smash Bros. series is a really good multiplayer game. You can have up to four people playing at once, as opposed to the current big-time fighting games letting only two people play at one time. It's also a lot more simplistic than the current fighting games. In current fighting games like Street Fighter and Soul Caliber, It's all about the moves you know and how you use them that wins the fight. In a game like Super Smash Bros., everyone has an equal chance at winning (if they know how to play that is!) The matches also can last longer as well.

It's a great game, and i like the system it has where you have to hit them out of the ring, as opposed to health bars/counters. It was a good idea, and it's great fun to have with experienced players.

I think SSB is my favorite game of all time but its not for everyone and so the people that don't like it think it is overrated. I, on the otherhand, like it's UNDERrated

This game is nowhere near overrated. You can't compare this game to your standard fighters like the ones you mentioned since smash bros series gives you a lot of space to maneuver and read your opponents moves. This is the thing i liked about this. Melee also has a rather steep learning curve at high-level play due to the need of learning techniques like wavedashing, L-canceling, crouch canceling, and much more. Some of you may go on to how boring this game is but that's just because you're not playing it right. High-level play is where the fun is at, and I enjoy it. Falco all the way.
