My favorite novels are the Ender's Game series. It's a great series of books. That is, it's a great series of books if you like science fiction.

The Colour of Magic by Terry Pratchett. Pratchett is a comical genius who can take the piss out of the fantasy genre without being disrespectful to it.

I love Fire Bringer by David Clement-Davies. It's a wonderful story about refusing to be oppressed by evil and staying courageous even in the scariest of circumstances. ^_^ I also like the books The Sight and Fell, both by the same author as Fire Bringer. These are more on the philosophical side, about one character's journey to find meaning. They're all wonderful books. I'd reccommend them to anyone.

I have to agree with Krator, anything by David Eddings is usually really good, Belgariad, Mallorean, Belgarath the Sorcerer/Polgara the Sorceress. I'd also have to say that the discworld series by Terry pratchet, and the Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan. (Who else is getting impatient for A Memory of Light, or apparently the first third of it >.>)Oh and The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever. First, Second, or Third Chronicles, doesn't really matter. Kinda twisted but a decent read.

I'm not much of reader but I have taken kindly to the whole "magic the gathering books". I think the card game is lame (no offense :D) but I love science fiction and those books incorporate gory battles with massive wars and amazing details on the characters. Also, has magic and such which I love in games and books and everything else

Ever heard of Douglas Adams? His novel The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is the absolutely greatest novel I have ever read. His detective novels are also great.

J. R. R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings trilogy are my favorite novels. The adventure is quite nice and it gives vivid scene descriptions.

I love anything by Neil Gaiman. I read American Gods last year, and loved it, and I've started Anansi Boys, and so far it is turning out great. He is really a spectacular author, and not only does he write traditional novels, but graphic novels as well.

Oh, god, anything from Pratchett is magnificent- he manages to make fantasy books which have a serious, wonderful plot and, as you said, have the perfect blend of humor. My favorite series of his have always been the books about the Watch, though his other books are equally interesting. The only books I found lackluster of his were the Wee Free Men series; however, the first one was excellent.

as far as novels go, they generally do not interest me. I find that most of them are too slow to start or introduce interesting conflicts such as twilight.

For me it is the Vorkosigan saga.http://en.wikipedia....Vorkosigan_SagaIt is a fantastic series that I hope they never try to convert into movies. There is far too much material. I do think however that there is more than enough material to make a rather good television series with each book providing the plot for one season. If enough people are interested I think I may have digital copies of all the books laying around.
