I'm sorry to admit that I plowed through reading the books because I thought they were nifty. Then I got to the end, finished the last page of Breaking Dawn, and wondered what the hell was I thinking?Part of what gets me is the romantic idealism of the whole book. It's very unrealistic compared to what anyone can expect (which is also one of the causes of its popularity). Essentially, it's girl meets boy, they fall instantaneously in love, sure bad stuff happens but its fate so nothing can come between them, they get married and have a kid, the end. All very nice and wrapped up in a pretty package. Except relationships take getting to know one another, which they don't really do (numerous articles have pointed out that Edward's only important qualities are how hot and gorgeous he is, and that's all Bella talks about). Relationships are about trusting your partner (which must be why Edward keeps disabiling Bella's car or why he forbids her to see her werewolf friends). To me it's about truth (which must be why Edward lies to Bella about his feelings). It's about how two people can make themselves better by being toghether, without destroying that which makes each of you unique (the list is too long here). Overall, the characters are just shallow, and the relationship that drives the book is just too fakey for me. Additionally, vampires do NOT !@#$%^T& sparkle.(Quick edit. I'm not sure if it's been brought up that the author is Mormon. I am not a member of this religion, but I had some really nice neighbors who were, and I learned a bit about their beliefs. Some of this is carrying over into the Twilight books, IMO. Namely, our spirits were in heaven, then were born on earth, so some of our actions on earth were influenced by our actions in heaven. Also, our families in heaven are the same as our families on earth. Therefore, one should find their true love either through instantaneous love at first sight (the werewolfs' imprinting) or infatuation (Edward and Bella). Family is excedingly important, so much so that the implication to me was that you weren't complete unless you had children, hence Edward and Bella's necessary daughter. Again, this is unexpert ramblings from a complete outsider).

I personally think Twilight is horribaderrible and that's a real word. It came into existence at the same moment Twilight did. ;O

To be honest, I tried to get through the first few chapters to try and give it a chance... I don't think it's fair to judge without trying for yourself. But. I couldn't get past page 4. ._.

The movie ruined the book as some say. The film was overrated for me and I think is only geared towards teenage girls.

wtf is twilight is right.. when i first read the synopsis of twilight, my thought was, wow brahm stoker must be turning in his grave right now. not to say that is not okay to change attributes about some fictional character, but to alter it in a way that is for the sole purpose of making teenager scream and giggle and faint for some pale skinned pretty boy portraying a vampire is! it's like making candy man the ice-cream man!

I saw the first movie only, and read none of the books. It's really not that bad, though. I mean, it's not crazy-good like LotR, but what do you expect? It's just another movie. I don't understand all the hate it gets.

Even though ive never read the books or watched the movie i can clearly say, that Twilight is horrible. Anything that can accumulate that sort of 13yr old girl media frenzy i.e Justin Bieber, Highschool Musical, Jonas Brothers etc. are horrible, bad things.

Its a mixed bag in my head. On one hand it gets girls reading, but it also influences some very unhealthy obsessive behavior so....

Twilight is very lame. I tried reading the books and failed by the third page. I think Twilight gives the whole genre of vampires a bad name/reputation with all the sparkly diamond skin in the sunlight deal. Not cool. Not cool at all.

Starting from its actors(emotionless main characters) to the simplest detail like make ups(if Twilight was such a success, why can't they make the oh-so-hawt vampire's paleness more natural?), if you're not swooned with the Jacob and Edward team disease(that almost all girls from all age groups are experiencing), you can see that yes Twilight sucks. (Don't accuse me of sexist, coz I'm a girl myself and just find it ridiculous with all the fans behavior nowadays. No offense, once again)Its just practically screaming of over the top, fairy tail-ish content and according to me, it gives young girls a lot of fantasies which is more of disappointment when they come to see the reality of the percentage of this really happening to them.I never read the book so I don't think I have the right to really judge it.

I found the Twilight books awesome, but so far have found the films a bit of a let down.I would love to know how they are going to make a film suitable for teen veiwing about the last book. I mean a baby vampire child that actually bites its way out of its mum???? gotta be an 18 cert surely?

When an emo-like girl (Bella) falls in love for a faggy-looking vampire (Edward) it's called necrophilia. I'm not dissing any of the "good" vampire romances but this one just suck major ass!

Dun think twilight is trying to go for the best storyline, best depth, best arty farty prize you know... Sometimes some of us just need a break from our mundane life and look at cute guys.. good bodies... pretty girls... Escape into lala land... You could just ignore people when they discuss twilight, not read the series.. not watch the movies, turn around when u see posters of twilight... stick your nead into the ground or something... but twilight is gonna be around for a while more.... like harry potter!!

I haven't read or watched Twilight, the idea sounds lame to me >< but by far Edward isnt the first vampire to defy Dracula =P, in a anime called Tsukihime the main female character is a vampire who can walk out in the sunlight and doesnt drink blood. Then again it isnt main stream thats probably the reason why people dont complain about it ^^

it's an ok franchise but I admit. It is very over rated.I would rather go and watch the whole 5 seasons of angel than watch these films back to back.

Twlight does indeed suck, but not to its target demographic, which is what really matters.

Twilight doesn't suck, its just the movie has horrible actors and effects. The 4th book also has a really bad ending...i swear...30 pages of a conversation to end the book..rlly...?

I think that the author tries too hard to change the story with each book.I don't think it was necessary to make 3 more books after the first. It was fine on it's own.

I can't stand the books. The first book was an okay read but as the sequels came along the authors writing became unbearable for me to continue reading.
