I hear XBOX gets 'red ring of deaths' quite often, so another reason why you should get a legit console. You'll definitely be using that warrantee, sooner or later.

I don't see why you needed a tb of storage. You will NEVER use that much storage unless you plan on downloading everything from the marketplace, and even then you might not use all of the space.

wow, thats like when my friend buys computers that people make from scratch and just load windows XP onto, and they end up crashing and screwing up.hell you are lucky that it didnt fry your xbox.i can see why you might want it, like if you install every game you own to your console, and because some arcade games dissapear overtime on the marketplace and cannot be reinstalled after deletion because of that, just get a portable hardrive and format the max ammount of space and use that as a portable xbox drive.or just buy one of the larger capacity HDD's for your xbox.@Liuliuyou dont get the red ring of death if you make sure your xbox is in a well ventilated area where it can breathe and not overheat.you can get an intercooler (my cord for it fried, so i cant use it at all.) some use laptop pads, but i generally just keep it in a place where it wont over heat, and i just opened my XBOX and cleaned the dust out, that has really helped. (no more overheating)the over heating causes wires to sometimes unsodder, and that causes the red ring of death.

We're talking about hardware. Whether you buy a modded hard disk or an official one, problems can always arise. My old 360 is fully modded with a glowing fan, a top connector for easy drive flashing, and custom flashed to play backups.Using proper cooling, it never died out on my with a red ring, nor did I have any weird issues with the console at all.The only thing that annoyed me is that loudness of all the fans combined with the DVD drive in action...Though I have moved on to a slim, and those models are beyond better compared to the older 360s.

do the slims have any issues with overheating?i was thinking about getting one but because its smaller and knowing microsoft (the whole overheating/red ring issue and the issues that happened to the old xbox's saying disk is dirty or damaged) I figured that it might have an issue with that.

Slims don't have the overheating issue.Depending on the drive you get, it can be as loud or louder...Main advantages of the slim: HDMI output, Wireless N, optical audio out.HDMI was available on later models of the old 360, wireless was a separate adapter that needed to be bought, and none of the older 360 had optical audio output.
