I've never been able to get into Yu-gi-oh.I've played Pokemon since I was old enough to play on a computer. So, about 3 (:I still play it, and I'm 17. And it has never gotten boring. The new stuff is pretty bogus though /:Ecspecially the Tv show.I still re-watch the VHS tapes of old-school pokemon and play red and blue versions.I got a little off-topic, but it's whatever.Pokemon > Yu-gi-oh^ Forever. End of story

Yu-gi-oh:1.) Huge number of cards (+ to complexity)2.) Strategies center around thematic decks (e.g. Lightsworn, dark-arms)3.) Only some card are used (e.g. no one uses cards with no abilities anymore, everyone has certain cards like solemn judgement) as its clear which cards are good (draw power, card advantage etc.)

Neither are very complex games, so it's hard to really compare. You could say that Pokemon is more repetitive, but there's little basis for that - in YGO, once you have a really good strategy and good cards, there's not much else left for you to do. But the same can also be said for Pokemon, and both games have a multiplayer mode...I'd say Pokemon is more complex due to the greater variety in the game - its not all about catching and battling with Pokemon, you also have the story, minigames, berries, breeding, in-game puzzles and pokemon that only show up when certain conditions are met. The mechanics to leveling and stats, if you understand them, are also much more complex than they first let on. YGO is a simple strategical card game that can easily be played in real life. I can't say the same for Pokemon.

Competitive battling in pokemon can be really complex, as in vs other people, and the gameplay in Yu Gi Oh gets stale faster than pokemon.

Yu-Gi-Oh is more complex, altough Pokemon is my favorite game.Yu-Gi-Oh, has far more possible combos with magic and traps that can be used at an instant to add extra power to the game. There is alot more stratergy in the game as the cards cant get levels and be better the next time around. The only thing that is complex about pokemon is the noobs who think 'IVs' and 'EVs' are actually real, lol. It is complex because, it doesnt actually make that much diffrence. "lets kill bidoofs to get more EVs" lol...

EVs do matter. Take the example of Blissey - you NEED defence EVs to make it a viable special wall. While many players would just simply pump attack/special attack and speed, for their pokemon and try to sweep (probably due to playing their gameboy too much) many builds in metagame play go beyond that - for instance 'Bulky' Gyarados (taunt and dragon dance away), which needs a hybrid of speed, attack, and defence EVs. Metagame pokemon also demands movesets, team balance, a gameplan against the 100 other metagame pokemon you might encounter, etc. Check smogon and see what i mean :(Yu-Gi-Oh's metagame tends to degenerate into choosing one of a few standard theme decks with few variation in the cards.

yu-gi-oh is more complex... because you have to think in a strategy ... its like i sacrifice 2 monster to invocate my blue eyes dragon ... and he activate a trap hole and.. we... i think u know how it feels T-T

Yugioh for me because i'm a huge fan, i also think yugioh because it's in depth...pokemon are always considered *cute* and *fun* :) ...plus yugioh is a strategy game and i love games that require a good amount of thought...but thats just my opinion.

I am more a fan of Pokemon, but i will admit that i think yu-gi-oh is harder to put down. It depends on if your good at either game for me, or if you collected more of a certain game.

Since i been introduce to pokemon first before yugioh, i really havent play any of the yugioh series except one and it was for a short amount of time. If yugioh been exposed to me around the same time as pokemon then i can debate on it. I have to say pokemon since it came first.

I like both Yugioh and Pokemon. Each of them have so many different aspects to explore. However I would say that I like Pokemon the best because of the fact that you have full animation of your monsters and not just two d images of cards killing each other.

i think pokemon is much better game because the yugioh games never rely made sense to me yes i understand you duel and stuff but i never really got the feel of a videogme from them whereas with pokemon i get the collectors experience, along with a story line that includes a diverse selection of element type combos with the newer games

I have played both pokemon and yu-gi-oh (and played both electronic and physical card game) and I'd have to say yugioh is better on several levels. You have to put much more thought into the card combinations in yugioh. Admittedly you have types in pokemon, but it's not as multileveled as yugioh. Yugioh is a much more mentally anticipatory game than pokemon. Your opponent in pokemon has a set number of pokemon with a set number of moves, HP, pp, ect. In yugioh, your opponent could have any combination of cards, any strategy, and can make many different sets of choices with only a few cards. You really have to expect anything in yugioh. In pokemon, the most you can expect is switching out, healing, and reviving. Yugioh is much more challenging and I like it better for that simple point.
