I was just wondering who prefers the first Black and White to the second one? [Excluding expansions]

I prefer the first one. It feels more realistic to me in the way that your creature is trained. Number 2 has a little meter pop up and explain exactly what your creature is thinking and how much you have punished it. I just find that a cop out for stupid players. ie. they catered to the lowest common denominator. Black and White 1 had a bit of guess work involved and you really had to keep an ey on your creature to properly train him. Not to mention that teaching him/her a spell no longer involved 'buying' the skill but you actually had to make it watch your hand then cast it several times. It felt so much better to be.i want to go and play it now. thanks for this post, you have given me the motivation.

I love the first B&W.It's a lot of fun.And showed me a different side of computer games I didn't know about until I played. So I'll give it the one up compared to B&W2.

The second one was better in that it didn't have you constantly micromanaging anything. I wish there were Black & White style games available for the DS, so I could take them with me.

I feel that B&W 1 is better than B&W2. The handling and the actual game play for B&W1 is far better. Although there are limited creatures in B&W1 (without expansions) it is still better.

I used to play B&W 2 a while ago, and I've heard great things about 1, but there's apparently less creatures to choose from in the 1st one? Aren't there only 4 in the 2nd version? The wolf, the monkey, the cow, and the lion(or tiger, I forget). So how many does that leave for B&W 1?

I like black and white 1 but some of how you build and stuff just are such a pain, so on that front I like black and white 2, that and epic miracles are great =3

black and white 1 two seemed more like a sim city game than a black and white game.

I played both games & their expansions... B&W1 had more to offer creature-wise, just felt more real and I felt more like a God than in 2. In B&W2 it feels more like a glorified city builder sim than anything, with combat thrown in for good measure. And they dumbed down the creatures to the point where they are no longer a thinking, living, breathing Avatar of yourself, but just a big furry tank you can throw into combat again and again and all you have to do is feed him and keep his strength up. Definitely lacking something. That said, B&W2 *did* have some interesting ideas, and I was impressed by the hugely improved city building mechanics over B&W1. In B&W1 you had to have a Workshop make you Scaffolds for a large amount of wood, which you then 'stacked' on top of each other to make bigger ones in case you wanted bigger structures. In B&W2 you can build whatever you want, whenever you want, by simply placing your building blueprints anywhere throughout your city. However, it was marred by not having a multiplayer, or even a skirmish mode, despite it being WIDE open for such gameplay with its current system. The missions are boring and have that familiar 'been there, done that' feeling because you're just building a new city in every level and trying to kick off whoever is sharing that island with you. Enemy AI is exceedingly stupid and will frequently send whole platoons of soldiers to die a gruesome death by rolling boulder, fireball or creature smashing. That's one of the saddest parts of the game. Since you're a God and they're not, you don't even NEED an army to defend your town, all you need is to keep smashing the pathetic mortals who throw themselves at your gates. Admittedly you will need an army if you plan to win the game by force, since your Influence often doesn't extend enough to allow you to reach in an enemy city and dismantle it personally. But you don't even need to have an army to win the game; all you need to do is keep building up your city and making more and more impressive structures until every living soul on the island decides 'I want some of that' and commences mass migration to your city, abandoning their current town. The Battle of the Gods expansion pack for B&W2 mixed things up a little by adding an enemy God to the fight, so now you're not just dealing with hordes of mortals waving swords, you're dealing with a vengeful God of Death and his entire, *MASSIVE* Undead legions, not to mention his newly-resurrected evil creature. You can expect to be routinely attacked by loads of skeleton warriors, his creature smashing down your walls, all the while he is throwing random destructive miracles at your city and gaining more and more power by sacrificing all his worshippers for more Undead. An interesting twist on things, but unfortunately they still didn't add skirmish or multiplayer, and we're still stuck with the old swordsmen/archers/catapults/creature system of B&W2. Not to mention all they did for city building was add a few extra structures. There were a few annoying tidbits about Black & White 1 I couldn't stand either, though... after a while of doing things for your people and just generally being a God they start to get lazy, figuring you're gonna do everything for them, and just lay around 'chilling out' rather than doing work. It gets even worse when you call them to your Worship Site because a good number of the population won't go and worship you to give you power, they will run off to the side room and hide from you. It's all understandable, but entirely inconvenient; after all, it's kinda hard to avoid the temptation of chucking entire trees into the Village Store and watch them be instantly transformed into usable wood, or using a Food miracle to fix a flagging supply of grain, especially when you're in the hectic rush of a multiplayer match and have to get as much resources, people and power as you can.lol... sorry, didn't mean to make a whole review on the games, but when I get going about something kinda hard to stop...
Make sure you try Cheesy Gordita Crunch at Taco Bell. Best taco ever! And cheap to boot!
