Certainly not the "best", but one of my all time favorites was Tony Hawk's American Wasteland. **** story, but lots of stupid fun and plenty of freedom.

Probably Fable 2. Man that game is awesome! The graphics and the probabilities you can have in that game

I haven't played to many games that have allowed a vast amount of space to roam... but one that I have played would be GTA San Andreas... That's a pretty good game....

I would say Oblivion or Fallout 2 or 3 they're both good, and both made by Bethesda.

I gotta say saint's row 2! It's a lot like San Andreas but better. I just simply loved the fact that you could free roam the entire city with friends.

Fallout 3, but I don't like sandbox games and Fallout is more of a straight RPG.

I liked Fallout 3, though Oblivion was fun too.Fable 2 was entertaining and all, but felt a bit too linear and easy. Also the exaggerated British accents made it hard to take things seriously.

Probably Grand Theft Auto series and Assassin's CreedGTA for so much contentand Assassin's Creed just because I enjoyed being a fail ninja trying to assassinate random passers-by and then dash into hay... wasted hours on it

Fallout 3 - oh man you can never hate roaming in that game Fable 2 - the roaming is pretty fun because theyre not that long and the area doesn't repeat surroundings Most FFs - i'd say the later ones had more "in" in their roaming compared to the old ones

I dont like to but i must admit GTA games truly have one of the best Free Roam there is. But because i hate GTA im going to say Crysis! theres plenty of free roam, you're still restricted but every metre you walk is quaility! Graphics and everything is so good.

Old-school Ultima Online was the best. No level-oriented system to say what you could or could-not do (it was largely experimentation). The safety-in-numbers was more convenience than necessity as it literally meant the difference between defeating an errant Troll or being forced to flee.

San Andreas for its size and scope, Saints Row 1 and 2 for their picking up the goofy torch where Rockstar dropped it, and Fallout 1 and 2 for accomplishing something with sandboxes that hasn't been equaled since. Namely, greatness beyond measure.

Fallout 3 for sure. I spend hours upon hours playing it. Would really love to get Broken Steel expansion but am thinking that I'll wait for the PS3 game of the year edition.Batman Arkham Asylum, is fun as hell to free roam. I spent ages looking for all the riddle trophies and bashing random enemies.

GTA, it just owns for size and things to do in it! Going around killing people and robbing cars, only fun in videogames! Just so much to do, i like to fly helicopters!
