What I used to do is make accounts, and then once its up, I make a new one and get people to add it.

dude 50 dollars a year is not even remotely close to very expensive. Microsoft used to offer free 3-month subscriptions to xbox live when you purchased a game with xbox live capability, but I think they stopped doing that because people would use those to make accounts solely for cheating. I think you at least get a free couple of days for buying a new xbox 360. But seriously, it's less than the cost of buying one new game a year.the reason for this post is because xbox live is very expensive and i was wonderin if there was a cheaper way to get it...?

Over here at my place, a year of Xbox Live subscription costs around US$58 if we get it from retail store. However it's much cheaper (around US$49) if we get it through a on-line store.
