For all you Mario fans out there, which do you prefer, the old retro 2D games, or the newer 3D games. Personally I like the retro games, could just be because I grew up with them. So what's you opinion.

I like Mario Galaxies for the wii and Super Paper Mario is cool once you get past the beginning with it's endless story!

Sure there is the nostalgia factor, but except for the bosses, I prefer the newer games. I know that in comparison, they're both pretty simple--jumping on the bosses or slapping the bosses' projectiles back at them, but I just expected something more complex as I grew up to maintain some difficulty. So far, I've been growing up and getting smarter faster than the games. Thank goodness for hard games like Intelligent Qube :psy:

I like the older ones just because the newer ones really are not as challenging.

The new ones are neat, like Galaxy, but the originals are still my favorite. Only cuz of nostalgia, really.

The old mario games are really challenging so you should have more game time with them but new super mario bros is way easier but if you like a challenge like You should pick the Old mario.

I like the newer Mario games because the graphics is way better. Also, there is more of a story to the game. However, I would choose the older mario games if I want to have more of a challenge.

I prefer the original Mario games over the new ones. The new ones just don't compare to the originals.

I like the older ones because of the memories they bring back. I owned the original Mario and Mario Bros 3. I like the newer games because they still integrate so much from the older stories. A lot of humor, too, that wasn't in the old games.

I prefer SM World over Galaxy and other new ones. Galaxy has charm, but it just didn't do it for me the way I loved the 2D games, even the newer GBA ones.

I think Mario Super Smas Bros is the best <_<GPs were deducted for this post, please read the rules! - hackerxWhat we have here is somebody trying to post as quickly as possible for points and either failing to comprehend the subject or simply not caring. The SSB games have Mario in them but they are NOT Mario platforming games which is what the topic is about.

The new games are nice and look more shiny. But the retro games are classic. you can't beat them.

I don't mind the new stuff at all but I think that the old games will just hold my heart forever, I've played Super Mario Galaxy but I just have to say that nothing compares at all to running around in the Raccoon suit from SMB3.

I really enjoyed Super Mario 64, and enjoy it over all the newer ones, and older ones prior...Just not sure whether it counts as retro or new

im not gonna lie... ...the old ones are classic, i play them all the time, i don't get bored of them. But Super Mario Galaxy is more fun to play. Super Mario Bros. was cool, but Super Mario Galaxy has some old and new, it has some retro style in it, while introducing a whole new experience of gameplay, flying around planets and using motion controls. But Super Mario 64 takes the cake, i grew up playing it, and i still play it all the time. The feeling i got when playing it for the first time was so amazing. I love re-living it.So i'm a bit of both, Mario hasn't changed, we wouldn't be where he is now without it.

Older Mario games are much challenging and they're classic games. So newest Mario games can't beat them. Never.
