I like Mario in 3d form. I think Nintendo managed to do a great job of taking all of the things that make 2d platforming so much fun, and make them work nicely into a 3d world. Mario 64 and Sunshine were the first examples of this. Now they've started to innovate the genre a little more with Galaxies.

The old mario games are really challenging so you should have more gameI like the older ones just because the newer ones really are not as challenging.GPs were deducted for this post, please read the rules! - hackerx

hmm.. the mario game thats hit me the most was Mario RPG on the snesi'd only gotten into the mario franchise inbetween mario bros 3 and super mario worldsomewhere near those years the old NES died out.(i recall some NES games borrowing on SNES inovations that ..so to say..FAILED -> yoshi's cookies)i do enjoy the old flavor of the mario recipe, i like the platformer games, they're simple and enjoyable.3D adds too much depth and complexity at times (mostly untill you get used to the controls)but that can lead into an overly steep learning curve, if not to mention questionable camera angles..

The old retro ones I loved. I couldn't beat one though.. But, it always will bring back memories. The only newer ones I love are the Rpg series. :(

I prefer the old 2D games. I'm sure this is why I love the Paper Mario games, and don't care much for any of the 3D stuff.... It's closest to the original that you get now. (Which is sad.) I don't do that well with 3D maps. Maybe if I'd grown up with them, I'd feel differently. I'm the most comfortable with 2D, sidescrolling games.

I grew up with the old Mario so I more attached to the old version. The new ones have improved graphics and what not, but I still like classics better.

The old Mario's were more challenging I think. The SNES proved that a bit. The nintendo DS has some Mario Bros games with quite overly powerful items, and now u have bullet bill in mario kart whereas you had the thunder if u were coming last in the old kart series. Nevertheless I enjoy every Mario game, though the old games give it more gaming class.
