I have played the original NES version of ffIII but i have not gotten the ew DS version because i think it will be a waste of money to play the same game again on a different system. is the story any different or perhaps maybe a new twist to the game that makes it worth playing?

I haven't gotten to play this one yet, but if you're worried about playing the

same game again on a different system

, and you're a Final Fantasy fan then you should probably get this. It sounds to me like it's completely different from the original. Here is a link to the CheatCC review. I hope this helps. http://www.cheatcc.c...asy3review.html

actually it depends. see, the original FFIII in Japan has been secluded to japan except for this DS release. FFIII everywhere else is actually FFVI. So you are more than likely to run into a totally different storyline. It won't have Terra, Locke, Edgar, Sabin etc. It will have........well i haven't played the game yet but yeah, i hope you know what i mean :P

He's talking about the patched English Translation ROM of FF3 for the NES, you silly Auzzie. As a person who has played both, I can say that the story is only slightly different. The only difference is the actual characters.-Instead of 4 brothers, they're 4 different people, each with their own backstory.-You don't start off with all 4 people at the same time, you start off with the main character and have to find the rest of the people, something you do in about 20 minutes. This annoyed me because in the NES version you started off with all 4 at the same time, making them all balanced, which was great for people with OCD like me, but this other way annoyed me.-Jobs are different. Right now the only ones that I can think of is Ninja, Sage and Onion Knight. In the NES version, Ninja and Sage were 2 hidden jobs. Ninja could equip any weapon/armor except for the Onion items. Sages could use any Spell (White and Black) and any summon. In the DS remake they are both nerfed to the point where they aren't even worth it. Sage is nerfed so they can use a wide range of spells, but the spells aren't as strong as they could be. Ninjas I think can only equip katanas as weapons, not sure about armor (it has been a couple of years since I played it). In the NES version your party started off as Onion Knights, the purpose of the Onion Knight class was that they could equip the Onion items which were the strongest items in the game (and pretty damn rare). In the DS version, your team (when you get each member) starts off as Freelancers. Onion Knight is something that you unlock by doing some sidequest which involves sending letters to other people who have the game using wi-fi. And from what I heard (I never got Onion Knight), it was only useful when you got the characters to like Level 99 or something, but I guess that can be bypassed using cheats if you're playing on a flashcart. In my opinion, this game is great if you didn't play the original NES version. However, if you're like me, you'll prefer the NES version, just because it's simpler and doesn't have that stupid ass chibi 3-D style which is just horrible. So yeah, in your case it's not worth buying IMO (I actually bought it back before I learned about emulation and was very unsatsfied).

The overall story is still the same, there are a few minor changes such as names. Also the DS version was given more unlockables, but the main story is still the same.
