okay so i have went through 2 copies of final fantasy 9 and have expierenced the same problem on both copies. i'll be playing the game and then i'll get to a cutscene and it will freeze. it doesnt matter what part of the story/disc i play it does the same thing. ive treid it on my ps1 system and just recently on my ps3 and im wondering if im the only one to expeirence this. im planning on buying a copy that is brand new and never been opened but im hesitant because that's possible money wasted if they dont do refunds. so im asking you my fellow gamers to assist on whether fate is conspiring against me so that i cant play this great game or that i just have crappy luck picking out games.Neosolar signing outps sorry just realized i put this in wrong topic is there anyway i cna move this to appropriate place i just didnt notice cause im so frustrated with this game of mine again sorry mods

Well, sometimes I have that problem, but if it's only the FMVs (the videoclips) of the game, you can skip them if you open the Playstation 1 cover while the FMV is running, (wait a little) and close the cover again.

also if your FF9 discs are the black label edition your PS1/PS2, dunno about PS3 yet, laser will have a hard time breaking through the coloring on the back of the disc, thus causing it to either not playing FMVs or just flat out not play the game at all... i should know i have the black label editions and they arn't working so well, but i know it's not my PS2 cause i can bring down my Metal Gear Solid game and it'll play just perfectly, and i know it's not because of scratches on the disc because we bought the discs brand new off of amazon, in original shrink wrap at all and it hasn'e been open until a few days ago and yet it won't run

Yeah, I have had experienced this, though not always. I was able to enjoy all the FMV's in their entirety, but I'm guessing general replay of them caused them to eventually freeze. However, opening and closing the PS1 does the trick. It skips the scene and puts it ahead to the end point.Whoops didn't see the other posts
