I've tried to get into Persona. I owned Persona 3 FES and Persona 4. I heard a ton of great things about these games but I'll just be blatantly honest. I think they suck. I hate the characters the voice acting is sub par and the combat is so beyond boring I feel like I've been sedated or something. I can understand why games like Final Fantasy, Fire Emblem, Star Ocean, Lunar, Lufia, etc; etc are popular. But this series following... it escapes me.

I own both Persona 3 FES and Persona 4, although I haven't even tried Persona 3, I really like Persona 4. There is something special about the way you go around and get more friendly with people and rank up with them, while having to balance your school life, a part time job, as well as going into TV's to fight monsters and save the world. I really liked the characters too.

I actually like P4 better than Final Fantasy 12. The characters are unique and some (Kanji) are hilarious. As for FF12, Vaan was a pansy, and it was REALLY hard to follow the storyline in that game. But P4's gameplay and graphics... it seems really childish. It kinda reminds me of Kingdom Hearts, with occasional swearing. But swearing is good, helps me take the game more seriously. As for the other rpg's you mentioned... Out of all of them, I only played Star Ocean. 10 hours of gameplay, and it felt like I was forcing myself to play. Didn't like it.

The Persona games most certainly for everyone. I greatly enjoyed Persona 3, and plowed through the main story line. It's one of the few games that I feel I've been rushed through because the story line was that compelling. I kinda stalled out halfway through Persona 4, however. Eventually, I'll get back to it, but it's currently sitting unplayed right now.

I guess what makes a game great really depends on personal tastes. I personally enjoyed Person 3 FES more than any FF title, while except for FFVI. The gameplay is very refreshing for an RPG genre, and I like the feel of the Persona atmosphere better than the general FF world. In my opinion, FFVII is one of the most overrated games. Not saying that it's a bad game, but it definitely let me down after hearing about all the hype.

Yeah, I agree with most of the people here. Most series games only seem to be able to deliver in maybe 1 or 2 of their games. If there's a popular series and you don't like the one you picked up, then most likely it's another in the series that got everybody hooked and overhyping the entire series. As you hear about the final fantasy series, the best ones were 7 and 10. The one that actually got me entirely hooked was 10. None of the other ones actually interest me at all. Especially 12. Partially because of the reasons stated above.I've also tried star ocean, and I have no idea what that's about. Maybe it was pretty good for it's time, no clue. But try giving the other persona's a chance. You don't have to of course. I'm just sayin.

I only own/have played Persona 4. I hadn't really heard a lot about these games until giantbomb.com started filming an endurance run of it. So for me it wasn't really overrated. I found the game good fun to play and easy to grasp the basics. (seeing as its mainly pressing x :milo:)

Not really, I really like them both, they have a good story and atmosphere.
