Advance Wars has always been a favorite title of mine, since its inception with GBA. With Days of Ruin, its gone in another universe/direction. Which do you prefer, the old school or new post-apocalyptic world?

I definitely prefer the older way they had of doing things. It was refreshing to have the post-apocalyptic setting and dark atmosphere (supposedly) for Days of Ruin, but for me, advance wars has always been about the cheesy characters and dialogue, and some of the over the top missions. I'm still waiting on a ds game which can do post-apocalyptic and be good at it though.

I liked the storyline for advanced wars days of ruin. I liked the gameplay and skills from dual strike the best, although some people just abused the skills.

I like the Days of Ruin version.Personally,it's more "realistic",with actual majors and generals and blaahh instead of..sorry if I offend anyone but, inexperienced kids.True,Days of Ruins is much darker than the originals, and I'm not saying I didn't enjoy the originals too.I like both, but yeah.WHen it all goes down,I prefer DoR.

For me i realy like World of ruin realy well thought out story and intresting new unites and gameplay. Like the fact that your co power is kick down a notch making strategy an important part of the game. Never realy liked how ones co power could change the tide of battle way to stupid for me...

They are both very brilliant games but, Days of Ruin isn't what (I think) Advance Wars is supposed to be. Advanced Wars is supposed to be simplistic and have funny, corny characters, not dark and emotionaly wrecked characters.

I liked Days of Ruin the best, personally. It just seemed more powerful and meaningful than the previous series.

I prefer Days of Ruin better. The units are a lot more even in terms of power and movement in DoR (Stupid Neo Tank...) and what really made me mad about the previous AW series was how to build up the CO Power. I could be Adder and my enemy could be Hawke, and he could use his Super CO Power before I even got a regular one. DoR changed all that and I am very pleased about it.

I prefer the first advance wars (though I've played the first two and still trying to find some time for dual strike). The original didn't care too much about a story, though it was there, it was usually about the challenge and the gameplay. The thing I love the most about the original is the graphics. Every unit was so cute and all the characters were so overly happy that you forgot that you were slaughtering hundreds of soldiers and oppressing cities for fun.
