Anyone know if the hinges can be replaced? If so, where do you get parts? Is it hard?

If you are referring to the hinges that open up the DS, if those are broken you are must likely in need of a new case. You can order them on many sites for about 40 bucks, it all DIY (Do It Yourself) but there are video tutorials on Youtube. Here is a website where you can buy a case/shell: http://www.modchipst...ases-1-314.html

if you are going for a replacement case to get a new hinge, be careful. I bought one, and found out it was made of pretty cheap plastic. So I replaced the hinge, and within a couple of months the replacement hinge had broken too.
I wish they'd made that component out of something more durable.

What about the screens? Do they sell replacements for them too? I took great care of my first DS which is why it didn't have any scratches. But since I sold mine long ago, I've been thinking about buying a new one what with Chrono Trigger being released to DS and all of those other seemingly great new games. But I need to know if the screens of the new DS can be replaced. I know there are great screen shields out there but I'm not convinced that they won't leave any mark when peeled off or turn yellow as they age.

There are replacement screens too, but remember to order the correct one for what you need.

The rule of modern electronics applies here: If its broken out of warranty, it is almost always a better idea to buy a new one.

Actually, here's a better rule: If you don't know what you're doing, you might wanna think twice before you electrocute yourself. But you're right in your rule though, especially for DS screens. Messing with them is a pain in the ass, too. Especially the top screen, since you have to COMPLETELY dismantle the DS (if it was the touch screen, you'd only have to take apart the bottom half).

My hinge is broken on my DS and I just bought a case that holds the two halves together and it worked like a charm. It was 12 bucks compared to the cost of a new hinge, and it works great. If you absolutely feel the need to get a new hinge it may just be better to get a whole new DS unless you can warranty it out.

I previously replace the flex cable inside the DS.
