presuming you have a micro SDall you need is a homebrew app called moonshell, it can play .wav .mp3 .gif .bmp .jpg .txt .dpg(special mp4 format(video)) and alot of other filesno link, google it :)

I use DSi Music, and to tranform in AAC file I use Oxelon Midia, I don't like to listen music with the moonshell.

There's an ipod homebrew app for the flash carts that plays music well, again if you google it you should find it and as far as I know it will work with the Edge. When it comes to moonshell I think Edge Cards will only run the Edge specific version which you'll find on the Edge website, it's at the bottom of the download screen with the skin editor and the R4CCE cheat code editor.
