Those of you wondering what I mean, Games that you might've liked when they started(At any starting system, NES, PC, PSone, etc.) that seemed to get sloppier as more games were introduced into the series.

The Sonic games. I really use to like them back on the Genesis but since Sonic went 3D it's been crap.

I think an argument can be made for the Final Fantasy series, but that's just personal opinion... VIII with it's deuce ex plot, XI was just blah, and then XII with it's lack of character development and KOTR-thieving yet massively slow gameplay. X was okay, but the CBT system sucked, the characters were all very cliche, the social commentary was poor, the plot was too linear, etc...Not to mention all the spin offs... Squaresoft > SquareEnix. There are way worse series but I probably just can't think right now.

The Fire Emblem series progressively declined until The Sacred Stones and Radiant Dawn which are my in my top 5 list of games. Shadow Dragon, however, was horrifying.

I'd have to agree with the Sonic games, they should have stuck with their original formula.

I agree after 10 it got bad the story lines need some work and gameplay needed to be increased...... but the worst of the Final Fantasy series was XIII.... I got through the first disc in 5 hours I mean come on the story line was good but the gameplay was horrible, they made the game 3 disc long so people go holy crap this is going to be great it's long then once you got through the second disc with less then 15 hours of game time on it you go crap this is shorter the FF8 and that was a PS 1 game now that is bad. The only time you had the free world walk was when you had to go to the next mission and you couldn't even back track to get any thing you may have missed. Then they was when the character your controlling died game was over that was just stupid. If you guys haven't already figured it out I favor the old Final Fantasy games from X down.... I really favor FF2 for the snes one of my favorites.

I think the megaman X series. I used to love the games and played every single one of them, but when they went 3-D they lost all the good stuff they had in them.

i'd say a few series have certainly gotten worse, sadly :) sonic defnitely makes the list. i mean, i almost threw my hands in the air and said "thats it!" when they made sonic and the black knight XP still a fan of sonic, but more hesitive now. another series is the mario games. they hit the limits of sequalitis too often. like, galaxy was fun, 2 was tedious and lower in story value. than there are the multiplayer games that are just rehashes of older titles. its just sad seeing series i enjoyed be hurt over time :(

I disagree that the main line of Pokemon games are getting worse.  If anything the franchise has remained highly true to its roots and hasn't really improved significantly over time.  If anytthing the Pokemon series suffers from being a repetitive dance of collecting and training pokemon in order to acquire 8 badges in order to take on the elite four.  So, your loss of interest is based more on how repetitive the games are rather then their quality.

The Sonic franchise defnitely suffered in terms of quality for years, but many have argued that generations and other more recent titles have defnitely been in the right direction.  Though, I also feel like the series suffers because the fans no longer know what they want in a Sonic game as well.

Fire Emblem definitely got worse.

I'm not that familiar with that series to be honest, but I would like it if you could elaborate on how the series got worse.
