My country isn't yet at any huge credit card using age.We still have money in notes and coins but in my grandma's place she has a card for her supermarket bus petrol and a credit card for other shops. She only uses money notes in small shops and coins in vending machines and the trolley unlock system. So what do you think will happen to the way we carry out our business transactions. Will all of it finally be replaced by E-bussiness or something similiar???

While I don't doubt for a second that a day will probably come when paper currency becomes outdated and it all becomes digital, here's my question. The whole value of money depends on the gold and silver deposits that are kept at the mint. If everything becomes digital, would this not completely obliterate the actual value of money? Who's to stop someone from creating countless dollars (or whatever the currency may be) and everybody becoming rich and then there being an endless cycle of raise the prices, make more money, raise the prices more, create more money, etc etc etc?

No matter what, there will always be some sort of bartering system, so the issue of currency itself is a moot point. We will always ask something for a service or item in return, whether it be another item or labor.

It is hard to delete all paper money from the world, as there are always places that needs to use them. The infrastructure for credit card is not cheap. Many of the 3rd world country, I doubt will ever have the money to spend on these system.

The end result is that money would be abolished, it only aids the class system and keeps rich people powerful.GPs were deducted for this post, please read the rules! - No. Just no.

Ehhhhh....Whether we're asking for dollars or squirrel pelts in return for a service, it's still the same thing. Abolishing modern money wouldn't solve class issues. And those rich people are rich for a reason.

Well yes, it will definitely happen in a few hundred years or so. With technology advancing, it would be no surprise if everything, (schooling, working etc.) was put on the internet, and would become virtual currency. But the government would probably delay that till they find a way to stop solar storms from the sun from wiping out the virtual system when it's there.

Personally, I feel that while eletronic transactions will become to norm within a few years or so, the need for actual currency (or for bartering, as someone has already mentioned) will never go away, for the simple fact that there are some remote parts of the world that have no access to or any need for debit or credits cards. Also, even in some majour cities, there are some places run by old school merchants that will simply refuse to modernize simply on principle.

yes, the future definitely sees the end of physical cash. virtual money devices will be everywhere by then. There would be great convenience at the super consequence of inflation(no more spending money in the process of minting). People would no longer lose money on the ground, no more counting coins- at this point, street-beggars will be in trouble. All current minted coins and bills...what will happen to those is probably an even more significant debate.I wonder how big the problem of millionaires who are all curiously computer hackers will be.

I think that electronically keeping your money, is a good thing, except for the fact that it can be a lot easier for somebody to steal your money online. But in the end, as long as your careful, and cautious, it's pro's outweigh the con's. It's just a lot easier when you don't have to physically deal with the money. With that being said though. I am not a huge fan of credit cards, unless you pay it off right away. I feel that it's ruining a lot of people financially, and putting them into an endless pool of debt. It can get out of hand really fast, and mess you up for a long time. I really do believe in spending what you have and only what you have. Otherwise, you're paying needless interest on something, and it ends up costing you much more than what it's actually worth.

i thinkwe should have a money free world. because if we did, we wont have such a thing as the economic crisis. we could just live without the stress of not being able to pay bills and such. but then again, if we didnt have money there wouldnt be a limit to things which are very much needed.GPs were deducted for this post, please read the rules! - reddeath26

sorry you got it wrong the U.S. broke away from the gold standard in 1971.The gov prints as much mney as it thinks it needs an example would be during a recession it would print money but it also destroys money as well to balance inflation and unemployment. There is a price to creating too much money its called inflation and look at a textbook and see what happened to germany after WWI

Well to be fair if any country was money free it would be hell..

1. We would have to beg, barrow and steal for things
2. No gold standard of any kind
3. Black market activities would increase
4. Drug trafficing would increase
5. i would be poor...lol

As money is "the root of all evil" it is also a system of circulation therefore as i listed. Crime would ultimately increase worldwide, not to mention mass panic, hysteria and communities would never have the option of improving. Roads would never get fixed, no new homes or shelters built, no new jobs, and like i said above. With all of these problems and communities desperate, new coalitions would start, and renegades would ban together to start their own governments therefore doing things a certain way(their way) Also if gun control weren't a problem before, then you better believe everyone affected by this would take up arms in someway to fight for control.

Chrisitan1019 hit the nail on the head, IMO.The problem isn't with money itself, it's Keynesian economics. If the U.S. and other nations went back to the Austrian system, then all of our largest problems would be solved. Inflation causes poverty, is a cornerstone of corporatism, endless wars, etc. All of America's largest problems can be traced back to the Federal Reserve.
