My hard drive got fried recently, and I lost a lot of unsaved work as well as files that weren't backed up. I still don't know how it got fried though.

The worst thing that happened to my laptop was that I completely erased the OS off of it. I did that to my own laptop. I'm still mad at myself for that.

When I was a bit younger (and not a computer technician now), I was dumb enough to stay on my machine while it was Thunderstorming really badly. Our power dropped three times, and I was dumb enough to try and turn the machine on and keep going those three times. Eventually one of the boots resulting in POST beeping constantly at me and I thought nothing of it and hit the reset button. After that, everything seemed fine til the follownig day when I signed up for clases. Smelled burning electronics and thought it was weird. After that the power supply died and I lost a video card in the process. So when they tell you to get off your machine during a Thunderstorm, you get off otherwise you run the risk of blowing out your power supply and or other parts.

Okay....the two worst things that happened to me on the same HP system I had in 03...was just bad. The first one was the blaster worm that caused my computer to reset. I used adaware to get it out...but I really wasn't too happy with the guy who releasted it then. The second thing, on the same system, was that the OS (was running winXP then) sudden just went poof the night after I got finished using it.

The worst thing that happened to my computer is the time that some technician accidentally destroyed my hard disk and got every single data in trouble. Fortunately i was able to recover the important data in that hard disk but took me the entire afternoon and the entire night and the entire morning but its ok since i got the files, its all worth it... Still i dont want to do that ever again :)

I accidently killed the computer trying to clean it up with some random cleaning program. It was going so great too...until I accidently deleted a bunch of source files and the OS T.T then it would never boot again and unfortunately I didn't have the original start disc for the piece of crap Emachine we had. They stopped making them a year before I did this :milo2: in my defense I had been up all night smokin and playin video games -__-

Someone came in and took my computer from my room. After which, the kleptomaniac gave it to a family of hedgehogs who hailed it as their king. The gophers didn't like the hedgehog's new found God and decided to steal it and keep it for themselves. During this battle for the "electronic king", a bunch of hoodlums decided to snatch the "God" while the gophers and hedgehogs were busy engaging in battle. The hoodlums then decided to sell this to the local pawnbroker for pennies. The computer then stayed in the window of the shop for a total of 2 hours before the hedgehogs found out its location. They snuck in and lifted the computer out the front door - right underneath the pawnbrokers nose! After a while, the hedgehogs decided to feel guilty and, feeling morally obliged to, returned the computer to me after all that hassle.

Too many viruses, had to start from scratch. Admittedly, its all my fault for not installing an anti-virus ASAP.

Ah my foot got caugth on the wires and everything came tumbling down. It wouldn't have been as bad if it was a laptop but it was a destop so it took ages to set everything up right again. Although it was pretty funny watching everything tumble down because of the wires. Hahaha Something to remember in the future. Never get your feet caught on the wires.

The POST screen didn't come up when I booted it up. Thankfully it came back after a few restarts, and after fiddling around a bit with the hardware. There was once when nothing I did could get it to POST.So I brought it to the PC repair shop. The guy there admitted that that particular branch had never experienced the "no POST" error before. There's been a few other notable problems with this PC, but this one's the worst so far....So far.

It didn't power on.Possibly a Power unit problem since we heard noises from in it. We left the PC to cool for a few minutes and he worked fine. Puzzling. I'd try connecting him with a second power unit but I'm scared of frying it.
