Good grief, I have too many favourites!Jack Wall is probably my favourite video game composer overall – his work on the Myst series (III and IV) is brilliant, and Jade Empire is a flat-out masterpiece. The way he blends Eastern and Western folk and classical traditions throughout his compositions is really remarkable.I love Hitoshi Sakimoto's work – particularly Vagrant Story, but Final Fantasy Tactics and Final Fantasy XII are also magnificent. He's one of the few composers in his field whose work is so strong on its own merits that I really don't even care (or notice) that he's scarcely ever able to use live instruments.Kō Ōtani's Shadow of the Colossus score is a wonder – epic, brooding, bittersweet, and grand. Just like the game. :-)A few other favourites, in no particular order, are Genji: Dawn of the Samurai, Onimusha 2, Uru, and Final Fantasy VIII (IX is a lot of fun also, and X had its moments).

All the Castlevania games have fairly good music to them. My all time favourite however, is Metroid 2: Return of Samus for GB. That's one of my most nostalgic games too.

heres a tip...go check out Minibosses. Any song they cover is a classic game with a classically awesome song. they skip out the more tasteful pieces from gaming that we are accustomed to today, but im sure you will find them all appealing in their own right. I do agree that FF and many other rpgs have amazing music, but i think it would be narrow-minded to only consider symphonies/orchestrations.

Well this is hard for me to answer because I dont listen to the music when I play games. But I can confidently say that I like racing games because it allows you to listen to your own music.Like when you copy it onto an xbox. You can listen whilst playing a racing game.

All the Final Fantasy music made by Nobuo Uematsu (I didn't really like the FFX-2 OST). Devil May Cry 3 also has some great music especially the song "Devils Never Cry".

The NES Castlevania series in particular.Ninja Gaiden too.VG music seems to have gotten sloppy since the NES! :PIf bleeps and bloops are winning over modern sound-card capable music, then...

I have to say Nobuo Uematsu has done the most amazing things with video game music, especially looking back at all the older iterations of the final fantasy games, given the tools he had to make music, he made some amazing music. Also, I love the music from Chrono Trigger, I don't remember who wrote it, and I'm too tired to look it up, but its some of my favorite.

Most music from the Final Fantasy series. But, let's not forget Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin's music...EXCEPT Destroyer. Crappy song. Aria of Sorrow's music wasn't bad either :doom:

The classic Sonic games (i.e. Sonic 1, 2, 3K, CD). The Mario games tend to have pretty cool music too... Oh and i'll chuck Astro Boy - The Omega Factor (i think that's what it was called) randomly as well lol.

Chrono cross was known to have great music. Magical and Radical Dreamers were great songs. The only annoying thing is the battle song which sucked. On a personal note Star ocean 2 had good songs like arlia or expel or battle

I have to say Jet Set Radion/Jet Grind Radio. Every time I play the game the soundtrack keeps it fresh, don't know how they did it. It's just that good.EDIT:Not to mention Bionic Commando! Now that 's a high quality soundtrack!

Well the Final Fantasy Music is always good, I loved the music in FF Tactics. The FFVII Piano collection is great. I also like good chip music live in some of the early Castlevania games, but I guess even the regular music is good in the Castlevania series.

I always thought the music from DKC2 was really good. It would probably be the best in my book, though there are alot of other good ones.
