The World Ends With YouGenre - Action RPGPremise Takes place in 'modern' day Shibuya. Storyline is engaging, interesting and contains many plot twists revolving around an anti-social boy named Neku Sakuraba. A very original game both in storyline as well as battle system. Numerous unique characters that are come together to make an amazing game. Unlike most games, you are in one sense 'dead' already at the beginning of the game and you're now playing a game with revival as the reward for winning. Frustrating at times in boss battles as well as some ridiculously annoying enemies. Out of all the hand held games I've played in my life, this is probably the one I'd say is MUST play.Score : 10/10GameplayAs an action RPG, you are placed in a world that you can explore and you do gain exp. Unlike most games, only one of your characters' stats go up upon leveling - Hit Points. The thought might cross your mind that because it's an action RPG, why would you need more HP? It is true that you 'can' dodge EVERY attack in the game, but chances are, you're not. However, for those of you who have amazing skills, 'un'-leveling yourself does give benefits. You can choose to lower your own level (instead of being level 10/10, you could be level 1/10) and thus increasing enemy drop rates. The 'world' map is, like most RPGs, not entirely available to you at the beginning of the game, as time progresses, more areas are available to you. There isn't THAT much to explore considering you're in a city, but with 21 unique areas at your disposal, there is still plenty of places to go. Stores are scattered around the city and for the most part, your clothes give you the majority of your stats outside of HP (Attack/Defense). Battles in TWEWY are very fun. Throughout the game, Neku has a partner whom they fight enemies together. Neku fights on the bottom screen, his partner on the top screen. You must control Neku but you are allowed to set his partner to purely AI controlled (I personally do not like this because comboing is very difficult with ARTIFICIAL Intelligence). Neku's weapons are pins and each pin has its own unique ability. These abilities are triggered by slashing, drawing, scribbling, poking, and pretty much anything else you can do to a touch screen. His partner is controlled by either the directional pad or A,B,X,Y. It is somewhat difficult to micro on offense, but much more annoying to dodge/block attacks on both ends. Very addicting as your hits just pile up and enemies die left and right.Score: 10/10VisualThe art in this game is simple yet beautiful. They won't hurt your eyes, the battles won't seem disorganized, and the lighting is good. The generic dudes are repeated but otherwise, all characters have unique profiles. Enemy units are recycled with different colors but this is helpful in the sense that they still have the same weakness and attack patterns. There aren't any movies but the game is still very visually pleasing throughout. Score: 8/10AudioAmazing music. Multiple battle, shopping, and event music. Soundtracks are all unique and make the game very fun. The music fits nicely with the game. The fast paced battle music, the haunting sounds of dread at times of fear and betrayal and the uplifting music at happy moments. Some songs have Japanese lyrics and others have English. Although I'm not Japanese, the songs still get stuck in my head as I fight and I end up attempting to sing along. Score : 9/10AppealAs I said earlier, I find this game to be a must play. Epic story line combined with a wonderful and unique battle system results in one of the best DS games ever made. Although there isn't too much replay value, there are A LOT of extra goodies that can be sought after upon completing the game. Another nice thing about this game is that you can switch between difficulty levels ANY time outside of battles. Difficulty levels effect enemy drops, drop rates, hp, attack, defense as well as exp. Score : 9/10Overall Score : 9.2/10One-linerThe one game to rule them all. (Yes, cheesy^2)

Working on Knights in the Nightmare. Going to get around to Rondo of Swords. Hoping to find inspiration for Etrian.
