So ya know how Smeargle can steal anyone's attacks right?Well I wanna know, what's the best moveset you ever got with him?And yes, I might be remembering wrong, I know.Haven't played Emerald in ages, and any other in even longer.

This is generally agreed upon to be the best Smeargle moveset, mainly because it's considered *almost* foolproof.EndureSporeEndeavorQuick Attack/Mach PunchHowever, you NEED a Salac Berry, which will increase your speed in a pinch. The idea here is go get a Smeargle with a nature that promotes Speed growth, and that has high IVs in speed. Then EV train him in only the speed category, if anything. Also, if you can, make sure you have LOW IVs in both of the defensive stats, as well as HP. Do NOT dump a single EV into any of those categories. That is the most crucial part of this moveset.Since Smeargle is so weak, it generally takes one hit to kill him. In fact, you WANT him to die in one hit. The plan is to use the move Endure, and pray that the opponent does any damaging attack, which will guarantee a kill, except that you're using Endure. This leaves you with 1 HP left, and the Salac Berry activates, making your speed ridiculously high. You'll need this to land the next attack FIRST. Now let loose with Spore, which has 100% accuracy, and guarantees the opponent falls asleep. This gives you at least one free move, and in most cases, at least two, depending on how unlucky you are. Here comes the fun part, use Endeavor which brings the opponent's HP down to yours, 1! Sometimes they'll wake up here if you're lucky, but more often than not, they'll be fast asleep after you use this. Next move, a simple Quick Attack/Mach Punch to finish them off!Next opponent comes out, rinse and repeat, without the Enduring, just put them to sleep, Endeavor, Quick Attack!

I see only one flaw in your plans, Greenz. What if the opponent is ghost?

Then you're fucked! No, but really, switch out. After bringing them down to a manageable 1 HP of course. Unless there are other moves in the newer games that attack first and are other move types. However, a normal or fighting move is your best bet, considering they have only the ghost-type that they can't hit. Most other move types have other more common no-hit resistances. You've also got to consider how popular ghost types are in a team. Not very!Other flaws include pokemanz abilities that prevent sleep, or allow them to wake up sooner, because, remember, they're guaranteed to sleep for the turn you put them to sleep, but there is always a slim chance they'll wake up after you use Endeavor. There is no fool-proof pokemon or moveset, but this comes pretty damn close!

No, but really, switch out.

True, but an opponents initial reaction would be either to attack, in which you could possibly avoid KO (depending on the circumstances), or they could use a full restore, which personally would be a nightmare, because you can't employ the strategy again.

You've also got to consider how popular ghost types are in a team. Not very!

Speak for yourself, I always have a ghost pokemon party member.

There is no fool-proof pokemon or moveset, but this comes pretty damn close!

I totally agree. I suppose if Smeargle ends up with aqua jet, it would be beast! But for that one time only. You could always all out brawl, for what I care :waaa:

F.E.A.R strategy, with a twist... how typical... as long as someone recognizes it off the bat, you'd be surprised how easy that strategy is to beat

I always have a mixture of all types of pokemon, and used TMs to have most types of moves. A Smeargle is useful, but hard to train for quite a while (5-10 levels from capture). You *can* train new moves easily in a link battle, and it can learn *any* move. 1-hit-KO moves are good, but risky to learn. It depends on what you want. I also have ghost-type pokemon, at least 1 per party, to keep it balanced.

Well I always keep a Spiritomb in my party now since it has no weaknesses. As for best moveset, I usuall keep a smeargle with Lock-on and a OHKO move. instant kill in two moves, but plenty of ways around that. fortunately the AI is really stupid.

Just replace Quick Attack with Ice Shard. No one's immune to that. But now that Fast Guard will be in Generation V, that strategy will be trumped. Only a handful of Pokemon can learn it, but that includes LucarioI've always wanted a Smeargle with legendary signature moves , just for fun:AeroblastSacred FireShadow ForceSeed Flare

There are countless effective movesets for Smeargle. There are also separate effective movesets for Battle Frontier and competitive play. For the Battle Frontier, I've always run a set of Spore/Lock-On/Sheer Cold/Skill Swap to guarantee a kill in three turns. For competitive play, there are a lot more options. I'll be listing a few of the better ones:-Belly Drum Passer--Belly Drum--Substitute--Baton Pass--SporeUsually a lead, this set works wonders. Simply Spore, Substitute, Belly Drum and Baton Pass to something. It works even better with a Salac Berry to increase its Speed so it doesn't lose that Substitute while Baton Passing.-Baton Pass Support--Baton Pass--Spider Web--Ingrain--Spore/SubstituteThis set is great for supporting Baton Pass teams. The idea is to switch into something that can't really harm your team, then Spider Web, Ingrain and Baton Pass. Spore if neccessary. There's also the Endeavor set which has already been mentioned.
