I've seen a whole bunch of topics related to this but none of them focussed on the future energy source.I think we will go from nuclear fission to whatever source is available in our region.Mine would be Hydroelectric power,And wave power. We would use electricity in factories(obviously). I think we should have a whole new transport system controlled by computers. So it could be electric. And if we still were to have cars I would go for Hydrogen FC.And aeroplanes is where I am stuck. So please answer these

Who knows? One day, water might be our main power.Aquatic energy, eco-friendly and plenty of it!

And if mine is an inland country like a place with no rivers nearby???:shifty::.I can't use water.

I saw somewhere that if you'd put some solar panels in the sahara desert it would create enough energy to feed the needs of the whole earth. Maybe I don't really believe it to 100%, I mean it's alot of energy needed, but it's a good start.

There is a problem of transmission. But on tv i saw them transmitting through microwaves so is the unobstructed power of the sun (on its way to being) ready to be tapped?

I believe that perpetual motion will be the next energy source. If we can figure that out, then all the energy problems will be solved.

Perpetual motion needs perpetual energy. The thing with that is that if we use it as an energy source then We are taking away energy from it till it is drained. And it's just not possible to be honest. Now I love perpetual energy and I need someone to answer whether gravity is not a source of perpetual energy. It doesn't seem to run out.Ah my brain is on overdrive and came up with the flaw that you have to throw up a ball for it to come down so it won't work.Still I would like someone else to answer this.

There's a company that has claimed to have created a source of infinite energy called steorn. It's called the orbo, and they've got orbos on live web cams (assumably) 24/7. Check it out:http://www.steorn.com/orbo/

So now they're creating they're own energy? I thought that was like...near impossible to do? I checked the website but I still don't seem to understand how they manage to do this.

wind and solar power are the only two realistic, established sources for energy. building and maintaining structures to utilize tidal power takes way too much work (and energy/oil).

The best source would be a polllutant free incenerater( to reeduce landfills

I don't think that there is going to be one sole energy provider for the future. The idea of hydrogen would be really good. Possibly the use of plasma even though i have no idea how they would be able to harness it. Hydroelectric, wind powered, and solar powered are also very high possible ideas.

But tidal and waves are more reliable and give more power than the wind or solar.Plasma energy is used through nuclear fusion. You need to put in extreme amounts of energy to get a plasma so I don't know of any Plasma energy as such other than the Nuclear fusion.

If someone found a way to use pollution as an energy source, we'd be in good shape. Plenty of that!

We are gearing towards solar power, it's everywhere and free the only downside is when it is night. The orbital elevator idea supporting a ring of solar panels in space was a good one (gundam 00, I'm becoming a gundam freak)

I saw Prof. Brian Cox debating this recently, when he was questioned on what positives could come from the particle accelerator experiment in 2008 he said something along the lines that the fusion energy created could be harnessed to create usable power in the future. that would be cool, TV's and Mobile phones powered by the same stuff that created the universe!!

There are a lot of potential energy sources for the future. But, one of the best choices might be fusion.Fusion would be a form of harnessing nuclear power, but not the same as current nuclear power plants. The current types of nuclear power plants are run on fission which is defined as, "a nuclear reaction in which an atomic nucleus, especially a heavy nucleus such as an isotope of uranium, splits into fragments, usually two fragments of comparable mass, releasing from 100 million to several hundred million electron volts of energy" (Fission).Fusion would be the tapping of energy from the combining of two atoms. This is what the sun does to continue to emit light and heat energy.============Works Cited"Fission." Def. 2. Thefreedictionary.com. Farlex, Inc. Web. 23 Mar. 2010. <http://www.thefreedi...y.com/fission>.

ha fusion i would say if we can ever acheive it it is ridiculous but when we do we can create amazing amounts of power and in case you don't know it is basically what happens in a star elements fuse to create a heavier element and release energy in the process and no radiation and waste either

I would solve the over-flowing prison problem! I would make them a million giant modified hamster wheels and make the prisoners run on them to make power! The more bad the crime the more days they get running.Joke aside..I would put a solar powered satalite into space. This would charge up batteries and then drop them to earth. The a shuttle goes up to load up more batteries! Proberly not the best way... but it would be fun to see happen =)

If someone found a way to use pollution as an energy source, we'd be in good shape. Plenty of that!

This seems doable, i mean plants do this. If humans could use the same photosynthisis (cant spell) it could be very good. Then again we can do this... Use potatoe plants (or something) then burn the spuds to make power lol.

Have you heard of all the 'walk powered cellphone chargers'? This would be good only for such things.

Charging up batteries and shuttling them up and down? Where does the energy in the fuel come from? There was this Powerplant in SimCity 3000 for the PC, Microwave power plant, What it did is similar to your idea but it beamed down the energy as microwaves, A huge dish on the ground would then collect it and use it to produce electricity! Its a cool concept. I've seen them trying out microwave transmission on TV, I doubt they'll get it to be good enough for such a large scale (Any time soon).

This seems doable, i mean plants do this. If humans could use the same photosynthisis (cant spell) it could be very good. Then again we can do this... Use potatoe plants (or something) then burn the spuds to make power lol.

Biofuels? They would still pollute when burning but its really renewable and it probably takes out enough CO2 while growing to make up for it. The problem is that using foodcrops as Biofuels could lead to scarcity of food. :)
