I am trying to get some ideas for a good turn based strategy game to play. One similar to Gladius. I have tried FF tactis and fire emblem so don't suggest those. Ideas?

For TBS games, I'd suggest Advance Wars. It might not be suitable to your liking... but meh.Valkyrie Profile, Luminous Arc, and Disgaea DS are also good TBS games. Try them out. <_<

The games I have that are TBS are Luminous Arc and Hoshigami. Luminous Arc is just plain awesome, the voice dub and the graphics are really nice in my opinion, a must for any anime fan x3Hoshigami is... well the graphics are decent but the gameplay is kinda hard and complicated, still, I find it good to play and there are multiple endings you can get.

Did you try FFT on the GBA or DS? Personally I thought the DS one was better. They are different enoguh that if you didn't like one, you might like the other. The law system that was present in the GBA game that stole your characters if you broke whatever random rule they had got nerfed so that instead of losing chracters, you just didn't get a end of battle bonus in addition to the rewards.

I'll echo the suggestion of advance wars and add to that panzer tactics, which has a hex grid system.

For Turn Based Strategy i wud suggest both the Advance War DS Games (Days of Ruin and Duel Strike) they are completely different games, Rondo of the Swords its a very underrated game i'm just warning you that the animation when attack does hurt my eyes a bit so maybe youtube some gameplay first, Knights in a Nightmare is a very different Style of TBSsOne thing though isn't Gladius a real time strategy?

I'm going to go ahead and put in another vote for Advance Wars. Both Days of Ruin and Dual Strike are great, but I personally liked Dual Strike better. Also, if you're using a DSL or original DS, you could probably find the older Advance Wars GBA games for relatively cheap. They're just as good too. Dual Strike is my favorite but the first Advance Wars for GBA comes a close second. Also, if you're okay with Active Time Battle (the battle system like in Final Fantasy games) then check out Chrono Trigger. The story line is AWESOME and the ATB system isn't overwhelming.

Advanced wars another point, Luminous Arc, lovely voice act and nice graphics, Fire emblem, if you like the series, cause the story line might be a little confusing.

if you want a really in depth tbs game on GBA, go for Tactics Ogre, The Knight of Lodis.i spent many many hours on that game..

Also i gotta add Disgaea if your looking for a really in-depth TBS

+1 for this too, although i preferred the ps2 spinoff: Makai Kingdoms. It had miniguns...oh, also for DS, Hoshigama or Luminous Ark
