Blech.... yeah, "get a job" seems to be my parents' favorite saying too. Nevermind that I've been applying everywhere around here for almost 3 years straight now. :gs: Not my fault that the economy sucks right now. (And now that my brother's having the same trouble, they're seeing it really isn't just me doing something wrong.)

My Dad's favourite seems to be 'Don't blame others, blame yourself,' of which I find very ironic as he never follows that. principle.

"You can't do that, you're stupid!"...yeah. Negative Reinforcement is a staple in our household. My uncles and aunts say that to me too. Which is ironic, since most of my Uncles are high school dropouts (three of whom bankrupted my Grandpa's Hardware store and now bum around while their wife and kids support them). ME, I'm a College graduate in Math (my most hated subject), an Analyst/Programmer for 10 years, and live in Australia, sending my folks money....and they STILL say I'm hopelessly stupid, and a failure. Go figure.WORD OF ADVICE/WARNING: If you think your parents will change their tune after you've moved out and made it big---they won't. You're stuck with it for life.I should know. My Dad occassionally complained that my Grandma (God rest her soul) still chewed him out after he got married and I was born...

- Ow. That's a little bit unfair. Some guys became success stories without even finishing high school......but obviously, my relatives and the general majority don't qualify. The only way to get around it (if you don't get into College)is if you manage to invent something like Facebook or Twitter and make millions off it. That'll probably keep your folks from tossing you out....maybe.

Very Good

They don't say much to me now.But back then, when I used to go school, they would always tell me to keep out of gangs. :D :( For some reason, my parents, mum especially would say that to me all the time. I don't know if it was because they were worried about my safety or if it was because they thought I would become a "bad" boy. I think after, they realised that I'm not the sort of person do go into stuff like that so they dropped it. Then they started going on about education and all that blah blah. And now, I'm pretty much left alone.

Video games are bad for you. Then something about how some crazy game addicted kid did something bad. Then maybe rambling on about it, I stop usually stop listening or cut them off since I've heard it all over 9000 times.

My dad's is probably, "Hey, Fox News just had a story about...(fill in with some anti-liberal, anti-healthcare, fair-and-balanced propaganda)."My mom's is probably, "It is what it is." Translation: No matter what's going on, you can't change the past, so you've got to move forward with the options you've got avaliable now.
