... I am in favor of cell phones as it can be used in numerous situations where we need to.Mainly when you need to inform someone about some injury or event that they should know about. Or when they need something badly and so on.But i also believe that the use of the cell phones should be strictly regulated but as I don't see any way of doing that effectively I do not see any institutions allowing the use of cellphones. Or just a kind of communication between teachers who they cannot find for some reason and need them (But that already happens and you don't need a cellphone for that). In colleges I think they are mature enough to use them well. There are disadvantages. Just chatting for long. Not concentrating in classes because of it. Watching videos during lectures. Plain slacking. And, it would also disturb those around you. Provided you only use it when absolutely necessary I see no harm in using them.

Indeed. Though, I concur that I have had a phone since I was first year high school and my other classmates as well, though we do not view it as anything to abuse but to use in only the utmost of communication musts. When we were seniors, we still believed so but bellied with more social uses like texting schoolmates all over campus. And, our campus is not that big though, when push comes to shove and the deadline for a big project is just minutes away, we text each other to go outside campus and buy something--anything. We were usually too deep in work to notice each other when not in the same classroom or class--e.g, I needed Leonell, my batchmate who's in another class, though he liked to meander around places I don't want to go to and I text him for his collection to enhance my proposal.Although, I am speaking of my personal experiences with the cellular phone. I also schooled in a science-centred high school. If I may, I also don't plan on getting nay smart phone anytime soon...In general, if I think about the regular high school student, those students are allowed to have them as in my country, they are considered to have the sense of maturity they need to survive for one school day however long away they are from home.

I definitely agree that cell phones should be allowed on campus. It isn't always a disadvantage especially considering that communication is important. People in college and high school should have one because they need it and I think they already know when and where to use it the suitable way. Emergency calls are also important and should be immediately answered. who in the world would text or call someone while the prof is talking and could possibly see you, but if it is an emergency, you are rightfully excused. On the other hand, students not yet in high school (I'm not particular to the other systems of education in other countries) shouldn't be allowed to bring one on campus. (that is what I think) One reason is, there is a possibility that they would just lose it and that would have bigger problems. Another is, they don't have any particular reason to have one, as they are still too young to have an important call or text other than emergencies and stuff. Anyway, they could just contact the teacher in case of emergency. Those people who abuse their rights of having a phone inside the campus would have huge school issues. I think that It's just all in a matter of maturity and self control.

True. True. I also believe that children who are not in high school should not have cellular phones. They're prone to distractions and they are not mature enough to handle the responsibilities that entail the ownership of such. I believe that they don't particularly need it as much as adults because of their social bubble and their attention span. Social bubble is because of not having that many influences outside of school--or even the classroom and their teacher. I happen to be amiable with chaps not even in my school or district because of my growing experiences... Attention span is self-explanatory.

Personally, I think that while having cell phones on a school campus may be a great advantage to some, having them likely creates distractions and hazards at times. For example, if a student were to be talking obnoxiously on his or her cell phone, anyone around the area will be disturbed. Hearing a loud pointless conversation can make studying a difficult task. When one is talking on a cell phone, or texting, or otherwise focusing on the device rather than centering their focus on the surrounding people, traffic, etc, the probability of crashing (if the person is on a bike or car) is increased tremendously. In my opinion, allowing cell phones on campus only adds to the already loud surroundings.

Good point in the noise pollution. Though with maturity that shouldn't happen. In my responses in this post, I have the experienced branded in my brain and how my classmates and I reacted to the responsibility of ownership. Though, when I see through the eyes of my cousins--it relates me to the norm that people are prone to distractions of the digital kind.Summary: In response to the norm or collective aspects of different high schools in different countries, high schoolers should be the base age to get cellular phones or such any other digital device in respect to their maturity and their work load from school and extra-curricular activities. This also reflects the need in shifts in social environ or the social bubble.

The only reason schools want to ban cell phones are because students overuse them! Everyone's constantly texting, playing games, or on facebook during class, so of course schools hate cell phones! I don't think they should be banned from schools, but students should be more respectful and keep their cellphones inside their bags and on silent when they don't need it, especially during class.

They should be available for students to use their cellphones when they are in their final year. As I believe they are able to make their own decision on how to use this appropriately and how to manage their time accordingly. But if its a primary school, children should not be given cellphones at all and their parents are irresponsible to give them to their children.

there's reasons why cell phone are not allowed in schools. the main reason is that its a distraction in the classroom and the students wouldn't be able to learn. thats why the school district's superintendent put a no cell phone policy in the schools. if a student needs to get a hold of their parents, they can go to the main office and use the phone their.

Ya that's fine, EXCEPT for in classes, keep it outside the door in your backpack.
