So, it may have occured to some of you that everyone has a level of grammar that they use on a forum. Some of you are grammar nazis. Others treat the english language like it's a shotgun, throwing words and punctuation at random with just the minimum amount of proper order. What level do you think you write at, and what's the reasoning for it?

I... I try to write at a high level of grammar, so to speak, regardless of the medium. I even send text messages with proper punctuation and spelling.

I don't text, and I'm not one hundred percent certain how to, but I imagine I would do the same.

As for my reasoning, it is because I am a JOURNALIST. At least, I like to think I am one, and I have aspirations of becoming one in a professional sense in the near future.

My English isn't too good, but for a guy who got a B1 in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (wikied), I guess it's pretty good. I try to use grammar as much as possible, because it makes me look smart and neat. That's why I also use proper grammar and stuff with my texts. Unless I have to text really long words, then I become lazy.Altho I still think that teacher hates me, because I know people who got a C1 and had way more crappier English then mine :PAnd speak grammar? I always write using good grammar, punctuality and spelling, never in text talk or slang except for the occasional abbreviations (lol, etc). My partner often gets annoyed with me as even when writing a text message on a cell phone I will not shorten text or leave out punctuation, so it takes me quite a while to write one O_O

OMG I have seen some of the worst internet grammar ever! I personally try to use capitals, periods and basic sentence structure correctly, but other minor punctuation I leave out. I usually dont care how other people use their grammar, but when I have to read the post 3 or more times, it starts to get annoying. Leaving out a couple words is ok, but if I cant understand a post i will most definitely let someone know.

English is not my native language, which sometimes can cause some trouble. Didn't get much guidance in school when it comes to grammar, so I more or less thaught myself. I feel that it's important to write as close to the original language as possible, no slang and such, whilst speaking to a crowd with various levels of knowledge and understanding.
