squall , i liked his more closed up and dark character and how it evolved during the game . he must also be the only ff main chara that isn't a 15year old blondie =P. and of course sephiroth

Sephiroth just because this doesnt date back with characters far enough for my real answer to be even considered relevant. I like alittle eccentricity in my videogame characters so in my personal opinion the nihilistic fanatic Kefka is far more suitable than most of this list. So for now Sephiroth will do.
