I liked playing both styles they are completely different. Where Duel Strike is all about over whelming your opponent with your special abilities especially if your using the 2COs Tag Power at the right time that can basically clear the screen of enemies. Days of Ruin goes the polar opposite where specials are more rarer to see its more about your actual units. I like the veteran system where a unit gets more powerful as it kills units kinda like they added a little element of Fire Emblem into the game. I do have to say it took me a while to get into Days of Ruin cause the whole cartoony fun lively style was gone and it was this grim post-apocalyptic style. So what does everyone else think of the two advance wars? which game-play you like better? or what part(s) of the game did you like?

Days of Ruin, defiantly. Now I was a big fan of the original Advance Wars on the GBA, but I felt that like, as you highlighted, CO powers where just getting overly powerful. Days of Ruin's storyline is a lot more gritty and compelling as well. I usually don't like post-apocalyptic themes too much because they are rather depressing but I really got into it with Days of Ruin.

I haven't played Days of Ruin as of yet but it looks like the best Advance Wars of all time. Dual Strike didn't seem to make full use of the whole dual screen idea. It has more of the gba graphics rather than the Days of Ruin graphics.

its true they didn't make full use of the dual screen, the two battlefronts was surely interesting i wish that you could of played that with 4 players not with just 2

I like them both to be honest because even though dual strike didn't improve that much when they show a cutscene of both armies fighting, but I like the fact where there are new CO's around, the use of touch screen, new powers and especially tag team powers as well. Their themes is actually catchy for the new CO's but the other CO's from AW 1-2 ramake are... eh. Days of Ruin which I like the same as well because there are totally new CO's but their own skills is well... a bit different than the previos CO's in Dual Strike. I'm not sure if I would like the fact they brought in the Duster? Really thats what they got? Well it is the post apocalypse after all. But anyway I like their own themes the best of all especially Will and Brenner's theme as well. I like how they now let you battle over other competitors over on Wi fi which I had many many challenges to play against and of course they are a formidable foe.

I like Days of Ruin because it is for more skilled players. If you want to use CO Power in Days of Ruin, you have to survive and use statgey to get your CO in the combat zone to gain power. In Duel Strike, you can send a whole bunch of infinatry, get them destroyed, then you have a CO power (Anyone could do that). Also, the CO powers in Days of Ruin are not Uber Powerful like move twice (Eagle or Duel Stike) or damage every single enemy on the map and make them lose half fuel (Drake or Hawke). The good CO Power in Days of Ruin take a while to charge (like Tabitha) or some COs don't have any at all (In which case, you can take advatage of CO Zone like Forsythe or Caulder). The storyline in Days of Ruin is also nice...Best part about Days of Ruin is the music player!!! The music in Days of Ruin can still be played while the DS is on standby (just need headphone) while Duel Strike can't! I really prefered the GBA music over the "new and improved" Duel Strike (the funny part is that the GBA can also play music in "standby").

I have yet to play Days of Ruin, but i liked Dual Strike, even though the top screen was used rarely it was a very fun game none the less. Hopefully Days of Ruin meets the same standards.

Overall I preferred Dual Strike. I guess it's because it's just because I was more familiar with the units and the fact that I feel the post-apocalyptic thing has been worn thin on me.

Dual Strike was really fun and light hearted bu wasn't tactical enough for me.Day of Ruin is amazing. The CO Zone, the timing of the CO power, The ability to get your unit to veteran - all absolutely amazing. Level 25 was an absolute pain to beat though.

I haven't played Days of Ruin yet, but I'm hesitant to actually start. The graphics just seem to have really delved away from the original Advance Wars/Famicom Wars theme. It was always a fun draw to me that a war game had such light and fun graphics and characters. Days of Ruin just seemed to really deviate from the norm a little too much.
