Do any of you guys meditate or anything like that? its supposedly has amazing effects if you get good at it. just look at the monks who burned themselves alive and didnt move a muscle, i call that relaxation. but seriously anyone here do it?

There are many kinds of meditation. We had a rather old coach who played for the national Junior soccer team. He uses Yoga in his training routine so we had a bit of Yoga and meditation to do. Though we did it more as a warm up than meditation,I'm too impatient for the meditation stuff... So i guess i don't do it.

Well I dunno about amazing effects, as there are MANY different forms of meditation, but I find that meditation, in general, can be very relaxing. Whenever you hear about meditation in television or books the master always tells the student to "clear their mind." I think that's really boring...Thinking about nothing is difficult, boring and, in my opinion, rather pointless. What I do is I sit down in a comfortable position (I usually sit crossed-legged on the floor or on my bed with hands in my lap). Close my eyes. Calm my mind. (Not "clear" it. A person's mind is usually erratic with thoughts passing by every second. Just slow everything down.) And then just...think. I usually either think about what happened during the day or maybe roll over some bit of philosophy in my head. It's very relaxing and can help with focus in general. Although I wouldn't recommend setting yourself on fire while meditating....

I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to meditation, and I often find it hard to really let thoughts pass... but I do think I'm making progress, and it can be really relaxing.

Not to sound arrogant, but I don't believe meditation to be a sufficient means of relaxation. Unless aerobics counts, which many people tend to disagree with. So...no, meditation is something I never do.

I've been doing Meditation for a little while. It's one of those things that helps me relax and keep calm.Usually I'll just find some time to sit down and just relax. You don't have to not think, but just focusing in on your own person and your life helps you gain control of your thoughts and keep you more relax throughout the day. It's a nice method of Anger Management for some of us. :P

i've been wanting to learn some meditation cuz of the beneficial effects it has on the mind. well, more than learning, i hear it's actually about practice and diligence. the problem is i don't have the patience to deal with it. one reason i want to practice meditating is to improve my patience and mental focus, but my lack of patience is preventing me from following through with the exercises in the first place haha. maybe one of these days....

I meditate about 15 minutes everyday, I'm a novice at meditation compared to the monks you spoke about. What you refer to as amazing effects is the balancing of your chakras. There are many benefits to balancing your chakras. If anyone wants to know more about what i speak of search "the chakras" on youtube, most of the videos at the top should be very informative. Once you know the chakras specifically you can search them independently and learn even more. If you have doubts about the videos being true search "secrets of the pineal gland" and juggle that information around in your mind for a while.

I dont, i rather not sleep my life away. As for the pain part, pain is good, it means we're still alive! We cant live in a dream world anymore. Lucky for me its not part of my culture.

Why have i not seen this thread yet :lalala:I love meditating, it relaxes the body, and mind. I don't do it as often as i use to, due to work and school schedules, However. I've been learning and studying up on the seven cosmic planes, chakra's and higher spirituality. Sometimes i will meditate for about an hour when i have the free time or just feel like it..i will either do it in my room, the living room(when empty) or even outside around nature itself.

Well i can never seem to get into the right position. Mediating as in closing my eyes and lap crossed. Its works for some but i dont think i can do it because you got to be still and i don't have enough concentration to do it properly.
