But the distance to the screen can also affect the viewing, Not just the angle. Are the controls OK for playing something exciting like an FPS, Its more or less the same as the DS . I like this analog stick more than Sony's PSP one. That one sucks

i'm impressed with the horsepower behind this thing (for nintendo, it's pretty powerful, at least), it runs the same engine used in resident evil 5 and looks preety sweet for it. also, nobody mentioned the list of games confirmed at e3 yet? its a long list. and theres a lot of 3rd party support (Metal Gear Solid 3 remake!?!). and that is a good thing.so far, everyone i have heard talk about the 3ds who has actually seen one has said the same thing: Wow! it actually works!i'm looking forward to this.Resi vid:

Yes it is new. No it is not a DS clone.Posted ImageRelease: March 20113DSThe 3DS is Nintendo's new handheld gaming system. The name (as it would suggest) comes from its ability to display 3D images to the viewer, And it does this without the need of any sort of glasses. It is said to work using a parallax barrier.Specs are yet to be confirmed but it is said to be much more powerful than the DS and the game previews back it up.Dimensions: 5.3 inches x 2.9 inches x 0.8 inches (when closed)Weight: 8 ounces.Display[The 3DS continues on the Dual screen concept with a top screen capable of displaying 3D graphics and the (smaller) bottom touch screen.TOP SCREEN is 3.52 inch widescreen display / 800x240 resolution (400 pixels for each eye during 3D gameplay)BOTTOM SCREEN is 3.02 inch touch-screen display / 320x240 resolutionControlsThe 3DS has the usual D-pad, A,B,X,Y buttons, L&R shoulder buttons; The start, select, home buttons;microphone and the touch screen.Taking over from the DSi the 3DS has 2 back-facing cameras (For taking 3D pictures) and one forward facing one. The 3DS also has a 'slide pad'(Analog stick). Then we have the new controls which seem really interesting on a handheld system. The Gyroscope and Accelerometer for motion sensing.Cartridges and memoryThe 3DS uses a new cartridge system. These are said to have a maximum capacity of 2GB, that means good big games soon. The 3DS also has an NDS cartridge slot and an SD memory card slot for storing your stuff.Communications and Miscallaneous The 2 back facing cameras are supposed to allow you to take 3D pictures and view them on your DS. (Cool). It does support wifi so you can still access the internet. As with all Nintendo Handhelds you can be sure to have some cool multiplayer features to use the wireless communication systems.ANTI-PIRACYNintendo say they will have lots of strong anti-piracy measures for the 3DS.Game titles announced
Summary*3D graphics. Parallax barrier technology with a slider to adjust it to your eyes or turn the 3D effect off.*Specs- To be announced But they will be really good.*Shared controls with DS-D-pad, A B X Y buttons, L R shoulder buttons, Microphone, Touch screen*New contols- Slide pad, Motion Sensors, more Cameras (2 on the back for taking 3D pictures).*Cartridge- New 3DS cartridge Max. I really can not wait for this new system. The graphics already look better for the GC, and we even have an Ocarina of time remake coming with. That with a new over due Pit game, and a new Paper Mario game I can't wait for it. Now I just hope they also do a remake for Majora's Mask for the 3DS as well.

There are no official figures on its performance but all that we are hearing does lead us to believe that. Who knows? Maybe

Aside from what's already been announced, I'm hoping for one more extraordinary feature, and that would be the ability to download retro games to the 3DS, simliar to the Virtual Console on the Wii. Maybe you could even sync up with the Wii (and the next generation console) to get the games onto the 3DS. And if you could download them to and play them off of the SD card... even better. And yeah, I've read its graphics are at least equal to the Gamecube. But you have to consider that it's achieving that quality while drawing each scene twice for the 3D effect. Pretty sweet.

This is really a good approach for nintendo. Not much excited in seeing the orcarina or paper mario which will probably the same as mario 64 ds but the thought of importing SUPER STREET FIGHTER 4, snake eater and possibly a resident evil from the gamecube on the ds?! These guys are really pushing the envelope and that is without mentioning the parallax barrier. Imagine watching your favorite video's while this feature is turned on.

I can't wait for the new mario kart game, the paper mario, and the kid icarus one XDApparently the graphics of the 3ds are going to be closer to the wii than that of the ds was to the gamecube =oAnd I'm curious as to how the analog stick and the dpad are going to be used.

The analog stick (or the "slide pad") is a very welcome addition. And I'm sure there will be many innovative ways of combining the two, but one thing I'm expecting is to see the d-pad used as a camera control, similar to the C buttons on the N64 controller, though both controls are on the same side of the 3DS.If there was one thing I was going to wonder about as far as announced features, it would be the gyroscope. Sure the system has glasses-less 3D, but that only works when holding the system within a certain viewing angle (not that I'm any less enthused about it!). The gyroscope would likely cause the player to regularly tilt the device outside that acceptable angle.I imagine games will only be able to use one of the features at a time, but I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo came up with some sort of solution to properly join the two technologies. And I really hope so, as I can already see games allowing me to tilt the system a little this way or that to gain a different angle on the game field, maybe peak around a wall or something. But again, once the player begins tilting the 3DS, it's pretty easy to see them tilting it just a little more and breaking the 3D effect.

I would REALLY (Notice the emphasis on really) be happy if they had a few fighting games on there. I am looking forward to this especially with it's new video function.

i think it's good that they are bringing in a feature that will add to the gaming experience. I found that the last 2 "improvements" (xl and dsi) didn't really do all that much. [B)"at least it didn't convince me to dump by ds and buy a new one"
