So, I owned Both a PS3 and Xbox360, my 360 Red ringed. It was traumatic.Ever since then, I've been meticulous about keeping my PS3 well ventilated to prevent easy over heating. My question is this, How do you prevent overheating, and do you do anything special to keep your PS3 ventilated?

I think you can get a special fan you put on the back like the 360 ones you can find, but to be honest overheating isn't so much of a problem with the ps3.

It could do with the other things in your room like your computer that's causing more heat. Mine is always okay but if anything I always leave a fan running right next to it :(.

I've actually had a ps3 that crapped out on me due to heating issues. when I got my new one back, I took care of it as much as possible. All you have to do is keep your ps3 with atleast 3 feet of space in all directions. I also stand mine up because on of the vents would be throwing heat right where the playstation is laying on. Fans are good but not to close as they just push dust into the ps3 causing them to die faster. but the othere guy was right when he said that ps3's barely have a heating issue. hope it helped.

I do know there's a button combination at startup for the ps3 that will make your fans work at 100% for 30 seconds or osmething like that so it blows off dust that gathered inside.

To keep it cool, I usually unplug the PS3 when I am done playing. This helps for the 360, too. :awesome:
