What do you find ruins a majority of DS games? Would it be poorly done control schemes, that do not focus at all on the DS's touch pad functions. Is it poorly done graphics that make the game feel like an eye sore? Or would it be when a game does not successfully use the dual screen functions, something that can be seen in many DS games. What in your opinion ruins a DS game. I usually hate it when a game has some choppy control schemes which made me dislike Phantom Hourglass when it comes to the overall use of the sword. However it usually doesn't bother me that much, the only game that ruined it for me was Nintendogs. Also I know you can't judge every DS game like this, but which one seems to push you away form the game.

Some games have some decent graphics, but the DS just doesn't generally display beautiful, sophisticated imagery. So while graphics are important to me, I approach DS games knowing the graphics are already going to be taking a hit (similar to the Wii). The primary focus of the DS, other than dual screens, is the touch screen, and I absolutely hate when a game is sold for the DS with touch controls that feel like they were tacked on as an afterthought.

It depends on the balance, I think. I'm willing to overlook spotty controls for a good story. At the same time, I'll accept a bland story for an engaging Gameplay style and/or battle system.

I got 2 games I'd rate as bad, namely Lunar Song due to the crappy battle controls (nos electing specific targets, come on...) and Harvest Moon Island of Happyness. The HM game itself isn't bad if you can get over the controls...A touchpad only game with a hidden grid base can take some getting used to to select the specific tile you want...

I chose poor music.I think some people underestimate the importance of music in video games.I'm an RPG fan and in my opinion music can make or break a game. A great game will make you stop playing just to listen to a song a little longer."Hmm I should leave this town...but this song is awesome!" It's not just music though, it's sound in general, even bad sound effects can at least annoy the hell out of me and at most ruin the game.Think if every time you moved the cursor in a menu it made a sound that got on your nerves. Could you play that game? I couldn't.Game series like Final Fantasy have great music and even the sounds made when you move the cursor through the menu are classic.Replace the fantastic music and sound effects of the Final Fantasy series with something more mediocre and what do you have? Probably something well....more mediocre.Music is very important, even if it's just decent and fades into the background. If it weren't there you'd notice.

A bad control scheme can make great gameplay turn into nothing, it can stop you from finishing the game, etc. Bad controls are the bane of my existence, but it's also terrible when the music is headache-inducing or the graphics are really clunky. I personally like it when DS sticks with 2D because they aren't taking the chances of making a game with bad 3D graphics. Bad storylines only bother me if it has lots of dialogue or if its an RPG.

I only care if the gameplay is bad.If for example i play a pokemon rip-off where i have to train my pokemon to 100 before the first gym, then it sucks for me.
