I dunno if anyone has any info on this but there have been rumors of a psp 4000. Seemed to have surfaced more since E3 2010. Nintendo are intending to release the 3D DS probably by the end of the year. Any one know about Sony's release on a psp 4000 or a 3D psp?

The PSP 4000 seems more likely. Sony did say 3D gaming wasn't on its immediate TO DO list so a PSP 4000 seems more likely. But what confuses me here is that, So far, All the PSP games have had to be compatible with the earlier PSPs. ie It runs for both 1000 and Go!. Now i think It's time sony moved on to a new, More powerful handheld so that they can keep up. I mean, Making a new model of a PSP with slightly boosted stats and running the same old games is no fun. Nobody will buy it. So i think It'll not be a 4000 or a 3D PSP but Something New.

That strategy seems to be working or Apple.

Too funny man I said the same thing about Apple. "Hey lets take an iphone make it bigger and take out the ability for it to be a phone and sell it at an inflated price .... it shall be known as the ipad". And surprisingly people bought it and are still buying it. As far as the psp while I am sure they are coing out with something new and all I have heard nothing of 3d in the slightest plus in order to do it they might be in violation of some law as I am sure nintendo has a lock on their uses of screens (no glasses) to make the 3d effect.

I think there were rumours about nintendo using sharp's screen. And parallax barrier is pretty old tech so there shouldn't be too much of a problem.I guess Sony will continue on their quest for power and Gaming experience superiority!

Sony hasn't really seemed to follow the other handheld's innovations (3d gaming, etc.) so they probably won't worry about that right now. Just like their prospective consoles, Sony and Nintendo generally have a different demographic to pander to. My opinion is that Sony is going to be spending more time working on a new version of the PSP or even better, a PSP2 with even better graphics and better button mapping.
