Boy, what a bomb in disguise! I've never been too big on the SMT series outside of the PS2's Nocturne, but good lord, this game is/was fantastic. As the cliche saying around fans goes, it's like Pokemon for adults. For RPG fans, and yeah I'm onto this a little late (XD), I'd have to highly recommend this, as storywise and gameplay wise, it blows some of the Final Fantasy remakes out of the water easily. Like anything, it starts off a little slow, but don't let the shoddy character designs fool you. For those of you in the anti-know, it's based around the near-future, where a bizarre spacial anomaly has opened up over antarctica and the UN deploys a special team of multicultural (lolol) heroes to investigate. What they discover is a realm of demons, and even stranger, that each new sector of the spacial anomaly resembles some humanistic locale based off of negative virtues. In each sector, your hero gets to collect, fight and fuse the demons of the SMTverse while engaging in some creepy storyline and ultimately choosing on whether or not to help God's greedy angels or the arrogant chaos-aligned freedom fanatics. As far as alignments go, it's nothing new SMT-wise, but I'd still have to highly recommend this.Simply put, this game is amazing. Comments are welcome, as are options to post your favorite DS RPG, although I think the latter has been done to death in various topics XD

Ooh yeah, you know my sister didn't want to try it when she saw how they looked like compared to SMT : Devil Survivor. But I really liked it...the only problem was when I downloaded it from another site, I couldn't save it, so I got defeated really easily against the first boss. XDAnyway, I haven't tried the one from this site, so maybe I'll grab it later...Other RPGs? Honestly there are too many to list down. But I'm playing Lunar Knights again at the moment. Haha...I never did finish that game.

One of the things I really liked about this game was the Demon Compendium since it provided a bit of info on all sorts of deities, demons, and creatures from all sorts of mythologies. The actual game itself is quite fun as well though dungeon trekking can be really tedious and frustrating at times (I'm looking at you, Eriadnus). I still think it was a little unnecessary for the demons to continually bash your head with anti-human messages. Still, this is a game I would definitely recommend though, like any other Shin Megami Tensei game, it's not a game you can just brute force your way through.I'm not very well-versed in all the Shin Megami Tensei games, but would the protagonist here count as the oldest protagonist in all the games?

Shin Megami Tensei - Strange Journey to me boast a better story than Shin Megami Tensei - Devil Survivor. This to me is because the audience intended for both games is different by Devil Survivor for teens & Strange Journey for matures, which is unusual since most of there titles and content suggest it be 17+. Though i still find Shin Megami Tensei - Digital Devil Summoner 1 for the ps2 is one of the best games i played in this series and i eventually plan on playing Digital Devil Summoner 2.

I've been really eager to try this since I read about it in an old issue of Game Informer. I'm glad to hear you praise it, I've been trolling the boards trying to get a few more points to afford it. At least now I know its not in vain.

Sorry, I haven't been able to access this site for a while. I don't think it's the site itself, I think it's just my internet. Anyhow, yeah, the protagonist is definitely the oldest. In the original game, he's supposed to be Japanese soldier, but the creators states in an interview they made him look like an average joe so he could represent whichever country the game was being sold in. I thought that was actually a cool move. Most of the protagonists from past SMT games (and I'm talking mainstream SMT, not side series like Persona, Devil Survivor, Devil Summoner, etc) are a lot younger, as is the norm with RPGs, the one exception being perhaps SMT 2, where it's never really stated how old the main hero is, although he's often referred to as "young". Also, a bit off-topic, I wasn't too impressed with SMT: Devil Survivor. Not to start trolling or anything, but I found it was a little too different and the artwork was a little too upbeat/anime-y to really feel like an SMT game. Granted, the whole tactics schtick was cool and reminded me of Majin Tensei, but even Devil Survivor's story seemed like a rehash of the old gen SMT games.

Oh...really? Haha...since I don't have other kinds of consoles to choose from, Devil Survivor was my first Shin Megami Tensei game. And I also like anime a lot, so the design was pretty cool for me. When the graphics changed in Strange Journey, my little sister was shocked. :) (As I mentioned earlier)Oh yeah, does the Strange Journey enable you to save..? Because I don't want to waste my points on something that I won't play with. That already happened to me like three times and it cost a lot too...wait, I'm going off-topic aren't I? Haha...sorry. I'll comment more about the game when I get it.
