Your heart doesn't stop when you sneeze. It was an old wives tale from the middle ages that stated your heart stop. The origin of saying "God Bless You" had nothing to do with disease. It came directly from the fact that they thought your heart stopped in the middle ages. In reality pace maker cells in your heart regulate the electrical charges that keep your heart pumping. The idea of someone missing you, is actually based off of the idea of someone talking about you and that being the reason that you sneeze.Did you know, when you sneeze once, your heart stops for a second. That means you are dead for a second. The origin of saying "God Bless (You)" when someone sneezes is to hope for that person not to get infected by any deadly plagues. But in China they will say "Yi Bai Sui (100 years old)" or tell the person that someone is missing you or they are actually yelling at you when you are not presence. (But this seem to be not very common in China)In Norway they say "Prosit" for hoping the persons soul to not jump out of its body. What does your country say after you hear someone sneeze?

Your close it is said to stop evil spirits from invading your body. People used to think when you sneezed there was an opening for evil spirits to invade your body so they would say "bless you" or "God bless you" to stop that from happeningi thought people used to believe that your soul would leave your body when you sneeze, so they said "May God bless your soul", which was shortened to "God bless you". Correct me if I'm wrong thoughIn Japan, we don't say anything when someone sneezes, but like in China, we believe that if you sneeze randomly, then someone's praising you. If you sneeze twice, someone's in love with you. If you sneeze three times someone's talking behind your back. And if you sneeze four times you have a cold.

Wrong.Your heart doesn't stop when you sneeze. The idea of someone missing you, is actually based off of the idea of someone talking about you and that being the reason that you sneeze.
Correct. The saying "Bless you" originated when people believed sneezing involved evil spirits invading the body though nasal and/or oral passageways. Gross, but true.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bless_youYour close it is said to stop evil spirits from invading your body. People used to think when you sneezed there was an opening for evil spirits to invade your body so they would say "bless you" or "God bless you" to stop that from happening
Another version says that people used to believe that your soul can be thrown from your body when you sneeze,[1] that sneezing otherwise opened your body to invasion by the Devil[2] or evil spirits,[4] or that sneezing was your body's effort to force out an invading evil spirit.[1] Thus, "bless you" or "God bless you" is used as a sort of shield against evil.
