Please share your experiences with the films that cover the touch screen. Do you think that they are needed?

Bought one for my psp and ds and never again. Unless you apply it carefully, you'll get air bubbles and fingerprints on underneath side.

I use them and I'll keep on using them. If applied correctly any excisting air bubbles aren't an issue once the DS has been turned on (mind you, I do like to set my screen quite bright, could help with it). I don't know how durable the DSi screen itself is to scratching but I prefer using a protector which I can replace then slowly lowering the screen quality due to it being all scratched up. Tad of a pain to remove them for replacement though.

I used it once and i hate them! I find the make me press harder on the screen for some reason. For this i stopped because a DS is useless if you break the touch screen lol. I dont think they last to long either...

I bought a box of thirty Hori screen protectors for my DS as I wanted to protect my touchscreen. I've since moved on from my original DS to a DS Lite (which broke two days ago - replacement arriving tomorrow) and when I put a screen protector on that, it'll be #4 that I've used. The rest of them have dwindled due to spreading them around the family, but they are seriously the best buy we all think I've ever made (aside from the handheld I stick them on).I think they are needed. Granted, removing them is awkward, but worth it considering how bad a condition my touchscreen would be in otherwise.

Agreed, if you play games which use the touch screen alot you can't go without them really.

Touchscreen = automatic screen protector for me. With all that stress on the screen the touchscreen would have scratched were it not for the protector. I've had to change a few because of the scratches, and I would rather see that on the protector than on my screen.

screen protectors are worthwhile. You can scratch them up all you want and they won't leave a scratch on the screen- I've done this many times and they work very well. I bought a screen protector for my new DSi XL. dropped my giant stylus, and immediately I saw the scratches forming on the screen protector, hahaha, I love when stuff I buy is useful and works how it should- protecting my touchscreen...

Touchscreen = automatic screen protector for me.

It's the same for me. The way I figure it, since you have to use the touchscreen for input, it will be prone to scratching. I'd rather scratch up a screen protector that I can remove as opposed to the screen itself which I can't remove.

I bought one, and that morning my screen went completely retarded, and didn't work. I thought maybe the DS was broken, but when we took the film off it worked. If people want to get a screen protector get the full stick jelly ones, clean your screen of any dust and use a credit card to press it down.

Yeah, they're needed. I would hate to see the real screen on my DS getting badly scratched from playing my games. They definitely work, but we get someone else to apply it for my DS. That's why we don't have problems with it.

Just have to beware when you put it at the first place though. Try to clean everything up with the eyeglasses cleaner or something similar. Beware when you put it on to. Better to use some cloth to rub it on to make sure on bubble left.My screen protector works well and I think it's really necessary. If you don't have it, your DS might be injured too much from the scraches like others in here said, esp., by playing game with lots of drawing or hitting --> Taiko, Tengoku Rhythm, Chocobo(?), etc. Better let the protector worn out than the real screen full of scraches. Also, apart from scraches, food split or accidently dripping nose too (=.=)Anyway, after a year, I think I have to replace my protector very soon...Am I using my dear DS too heavily?? T^T

It could depend on picky gamers. I got bothered by the bubbles and how my protector wasn't a perfect fit, and the protector of mine got scratched quite badly, but it was okay as long as the screen itself didn't get scratched.
