I was disappointed in this movie. I felt like they tried to put to much in a little time. They didn't follow the cartoon time line or storyline. Not to mention how they just went far off in alot of its scenes. Like the part when the soldiers from the fire nation bowed down to Aang when he raised a wave from the ocean. How did you all feel about the movie?

I havnt watched it yet, but i wanted to coment. They couldnt copy the cartoon because, well, it's a movie. Imagine if they made like 50 movies to copy the cartoon, lol. I find it funny how they couldnt call it "avatar, the last airbender" because a few montsh before a diffrent movie called "avatar" came out, lol. I think they could of picked actors who look a bit more the part... I mean, really?

well they pretty much went across the same storyline as the cartoon...too bad it didn't come out so well. It was funny how they made the fire benders look like a bunch of punks who had to carry torches around to fight :(. Aang's airbending looked overly exaggerated and he ended up looking more like a boy who was a little "sweet". On top of that aren't they supposed to be....asian? XDthe movie was alright but really disappointing with all the hype they threw in there.

They took imporatantes elements of the story and took the real domination of the fire. Praticamenete asked not to create a continuation by the lack of success of the first book of history.

It was a horrible movie. They weren't even pronouncing the names of the Characters right. The tattoos where suppose to be solid blue as well and the acting of all the actors was very bad. So M. Night Shyamalan ruined this movie along with others ones like "The Village". Frankly I don't know why hes in the movie business at all.

I wasn't really impressed with how Aang was portrayed as a quiet, shy, serious boy. That really was different from the cartoon, but it also gave a stronger effect for the movie.I also thought there could have been a lot more humor in it.Jackson Rathbone was PERFECT for Sokka, though he should be more fun, too.

It was okay for what it was. Keep in mind, they were diluting an entire season of episodes into about two hours worth of movie. All in all, I'd say they did a respectable job.

I agree. People seem to forget that they're trying to condence a whole season into a movie, and they're going to have to miss things to make it the right length for a family movie. If you compare it to the cartoon, of course it's gonna suck. It always will.I went to see it with a friend who hasn't seen the cartoons before, and she kinda liked it. She's now more interested in watching the cartoon.Personally, I really enjoyed it. I was watching it from the standpoint that this is a standalone movie and ignored that it had anything to do with the tv series. My only problem was it was very very fast paced. And that they didn't cast it well. The only characters I really approved the casting of was Aang and Zuko. Because they worked. And for those who go on about the differences:- Aang's tattoos were made more realistic. Nobody, and I mean nobody could go through the pain of having solid blue lines tattooed all over their body. That, and to create a blue tattooing ink would have been really hard for their societies.- The clothes were made more dull and boring, because the ability to source the dyes would have been a lot more difficult than you think. How would the Water Tribes get such vibrant blue dyes in their territory, when all they had to work with was fish and seals?- The names were altered (from what I heard) by M.Night because he is of that heritage. The way we are used to saying the names, like Aang and Iroh, are the westerner ways of talking. If you take the names back to their ethnic roots, the pronounciation changes.- Sokka's lack of humour. You need to remember that the cartoon was originally aimed for kids aged 8-12. Sokka was the comic relief character and was the one that kids understood because of the jokes. The movie was made with families in mind - not just kids, but the adults too. They had to make it a little more serious.

I completely agree with you. The movie needed to follow the cartoon storyline more. I was deeply disappointed when I finished watching this movie. Although the graphics were not bad, the storyline could have been much improved.

I thought the movie had so much potential and that the special effects looked great, but the biggest issues involved with this movie were the terrible actors and the fact that it seemed the movie was trying to appear to be gritty and real, but only made a complete joke of the animated series by not executing any of the amazing parts from the first season as they should have been done which made the show so great. (Can anyone say run-on sentence?) ^.^

I'm surprised this movie could be seen as anything EXCEPT terrible! This was the worst movie of all time, and I can absolutely guarantee you that either M. Night never saw the series, or he was trying as hard as possible to completely change everything about it that made it special. Especially telling about the movie, and this makes me realize he never watched the series, was the mispronounciation of ALL the main characters names! (Oh, but he got the fire nation names right. What the hell?)Firebenders need a nearby source of fire? WRONG. Fire is just another component of air, though far more destructive than air ever could be. Therefore all they need nearby is air.The Avatar was ridiculously freaking overpowered. He was lifting a whole section of the ocean just a small portion into the movie, and made it look like he had all these natural abilities, when in fact it took him a long time to master the element of water at such a level as he did. What SHOCKS me is that someone on the movie crew didn't say "hey, I saw this show, and it wasn't anything like this!" or worse yet, they did say this, but M. Night ignored them! The only reason to watch this movie would be to laugh at the sheer awfulness of it. There are zero redeeming qualities of this movie. ZERO. They don't even have a rating low enough for it.1/2 out of 10.

C'mon, it wasn't that bad. It was still a fairly engaging movie. The only, ONLY criticism I have against the movie was "Avartar" and "Ung". Seriously, M. Night couldn't have possibly thought those were cool sober or clean.

The actors mispronounced everything. They said Avatar wrong, except for one lady in the whole movie who said it right. I think they should've used a different director, and a whole new cast. I mean, Uncle didn't even look remotely similar to his anime counterpart. And again with the mispronouncing thing. I stopped paying attention half an hour into the movie.

While I have mixed feelings about the movie, this show definitely needs to be continued! If not, I hope some Japanese anime company sees the potential of this show and buys the rights in order to continue and build upon it. Something similar was done by the Japanese with the Powerpuff Girls though the two shows are obviously on different levels.

Trying to cram an entire season of a show into an hour and a half isn't an easy task-a lot has to be cut to keep the story intact and engaging to people, while still being true to the original show. I think shyamalan was trying to make the movie more adult than the show, which isn't easy to do. It did take away from what the show was, but i still felt it tried to be true to the morals and ideals the show presented. It's not a great movie, but i would show it to people if i wanted to introduce them to avatar without making them watch all of season 1.

The series was way better. If they wanted to make a movie, they should have done like Harry Potter 7 and split the movie in 2 parts
