Cherry blossom! Always wanted to go there during that season. Definitely will in near future. Other than that, just visiting places of interest and eating their food. I've heard lots about their food items including instant food (yummy instant bowl noodles which costs $5 (~$4? USD) in my local currency. Not so much of going there for anime/manga since I don't understand Japanese.

I've been there before! Beautiful place depending on where you visit! I would highly recommend it!

I'd like to visit to see what it's like, as I am an uncultured teenager who's only been out of the United States once in her life. I'd probably want to learn a little of the language first, though, so I'm not completely floundering.

I'd love to go to Japan for the food, the scenery, Mt. Fuji and skiing! I've always wanted to see what travelling on a bullet train is like as well. And to top it all off, shopping is a must!

Checking out the otaku culture will be neat and all but I will definatly like to see what the big fuss about their red light district is about.

Perhaps when I was younger I would have jumped at the chance, but now, meh. I don't know Japanese too well, and while riding a bullet train and eating the food might be nice, in the end it would probably be a huge hassle for me. I am not good at packing.

Sure I like anime and manga and stuff, but I can't read Japanese so getting Manga over there would be pointless unless some of it is in English.

Finally, I don't want to inadvertently insult anyone.

I want to go there for the media, culture, Anime and Video games. First stop would be AKIBAHARA!!

Aside from that I'd like to try new and interesting cuisine, like blowfish, and ramen.

I want to go there for the culture, the food, and the nature.

I would want to visit the temples too... The one that got me interested in that sort of thing is probably Ken Akamatsu with Love Hina.

Been there a few times already, plan to go again. In my case it helps that Japan is on the way to somewhere I already go every so often (some people's divorced parents are on opposite sides of a country; mine are on opposite sides of the Pacific Ocean). For me a lot of the fun is digging around the back alleys of Akihabara and seeing what you can find in the little computer shops back there. I tend to be relatively frugal otherwise.

I want to go to Japan one day. I want to shop in Akibahara, try authentic Japanese green tea, and visit an onsen. I also want to get a Japanese futon to bring back with me, I hear they're actually very comfortable.

I do believe that one day I shall take a journey to Japan and meet my ancestors because they have taught me well in the good ways of housekeeping.

I would love to see how the culture there is, it always seems so different than here.

I think I would need to learn rudimentary written japanese, if I wasn't going with someone who knew the language (or was meeting someone there). Either way it would be expensive.

I want to go to Japan for the experience. I want to experience the culture, the food, the language firsthand, and I want to buy EVERYTHING THEY HAVE.
