Yea, yes...YES! We paid good money for both our games and our XBOX! Why should we have to spend even more for live? It's a scam! They make XBOX games to easy to complete so you must go online to get the most out of it! Well, just what i think... Why pay for it... Not worth it seeming the amount paid for games...

yes, its the only games system that you need to pay for to get online. microsoft is going to lose alot of money and sony is gonna gain cause no one wants to pay to go online.

I say no, but the price should stay where it is. It'll be going up by 10$ come November, better start buying in bulk before it goes up.

I say no actually, ive tried both the PSN network and the Xbox network and while yes, the PSN network is indeed free, theres a lot of support which just isnt there. For instance with most Xbox games, even if its a dirt-old one with a now zero online fanbase, the multiplayer will likely still be supported which is great if you just want to have a muck-about with a friend. I am a bit 0_o about the price hike though but as far as I was aware, its only a £1 uk price-hike per month.

I don't know the technicalities behind it, but I don't understand why the PS3 one is free and the Xbox isn't. I've never actually paid for Xbox Live, but I've looked into it several times. So yeah, I think it needs to be free :gbasp:

What makes it worse is the 360 doesnt come with wireless built in, so you need to pay like £50 to get some crappy wireless adapter... Its just stupid, i always wanted a 360 till i got one...

The question of should I'd say no, you buy a game knowing you'll have to pay for the subscription so it is expected. However it would be nice if it is free.

They are upping the price. NOOOOOO!Though, people say because it costs money it is actually better than the free Nintendo wi-fi or PSN. Better connection maybe? I don't know the details but being the stingy person I am, everyday I wish XBL was free. I think it's crap when you buy a game and the bulk of it is multiplayer and you can't even play it without XBL.

It should be less expensive yes. But it is still the most popular consul online. I think the fact that you have to pay for it makes people want it more because it has $ value. Even if there is no real advantage.

i understand why xbox live isn't free but of course, i wouldn't mind saving the money. i know it's not a lot but it can buy me lunch for a few days. or a week full of snacks while on xbox live.

I don't think it should be free, but not 10 dollars a month.. it's insane. 40 dollars a year gets annoying but with other costs, it drains you of your hard earned money.

I am considering going over to the dark side of ps3 because of the free online services. Although I got a years subscription for like £24 or something a few months ago which was pretty good.

Xbox live costs more because it has better support. I have had to deal with Microsoft's support system for fixing account problems, and they are very helpful and friendly. They wouldn't be able to pay for that good support system if there wasn't income from fees. As for PS3, I have never heard mention of a customer support department, though I do not use the PS3. As for the discounts, they are NOT because Microsoft isn't making money. It's just a sale. All companies put their products on sale every now and then to bring more people in hoping to increase sales. Also, somebody mentioned Xbox live having dedicated servers. That is not something controlled by Microsoft. That is controlled by the makers of the game and their parent companies. Take Activision and Treyarch. They decided to only provide dedicated servers for PC gamers. I believe either Gears of War 2 or BFBC2 has dedicated servers on Xbox, though I may be wrong. This issue is down to what the gaming companies believe their customers want, not the console companies.
