Hey guys, my Age of Conan time just ran out today, and I have been neglecting my computer in the field of offline RPG's. Basically, point me in the direction of some good RPG's, I kinda have a huge boner for them, so I am looking for some goodies.

Depending on how far back you want to go with the classics - I would suggest Legacy of the Ancients, Ultima 1-7, Wizardry, the Advanced Dungeons & Dragons titles, Elder Scrolls: Arena and Elder Scrolls: Daggerfall. To name a few.

As mentioned in a topic below, Neverwinter Nights is decent, and Baldur's Gate II is pretty good as well.

To be honest, I really only wanted old school games because I know my netbook will run them during lecture class, so I dont know about Neverwinter Nights, but thank you for the suggestion.

Planescape: Torment. Often called the best RPG ever made. And - at least when talking about the story - I agree.

You could also run an emulator and have access to all the great ps1 and Nintendo rpgs out there. Don't need a fast computer to run and there's such a good selection of games.

What locallegend said. There are a lot of good old nintendo RPG's, such as Seiken Densetsu, Chrono Trigger, Pokemanz, Golden Sun, Final Fantasy.

Going with what forque said. Elder scrolls 3: morrow wind is what you might want while the other older elder scrolls may not work on your current system (I'm still having trouble running windows 95 games on mine). Following local legend's suggestion, tons of great jRPG are found on gba, snes and ps1 such as the final fantasy series. If you want something traditional but good on the jrpg side, there is already a patch for earthbound 2 or mother 3 that can be found on the GBA main thread. Though here is my suggestion and only to those who are 18 and above. BRAVE SOULThis is a j-ero-diablo-dungeon style RPG. Your main hero gets kicked out by his dad and traverses dungeons, powering up, meeting and gathering new party members. The kink here is you can date one of the party members to unlock it's erotic cut scenes where the hero ****** and ***** his companion that will eventually /(0o0)\ with her in the end. The battle system is decent and is almost like disgaea or other nippon ichi series where you can choose a higher difficulty setting with all of your items and stats that will eventually unlock even more insane difficult setting that will make replaying the game to date the other girls and unlock their *******, which is more rewarding. And yes this will work on windows xp.

i'm not sure if this will be good for you but, i really have enjoyed the final fantasy games 7, 8, and 9 when i don't have anything to play on my PC sometime ago.. i played then through an emulator (i don't have PS so i only got acquainted with a final fantasy game that time, i think that's almost 10 years after those three reach the top of the charts.if you haven't played it yet, or any FF games, then i strongly suggest to try it.. it really worth it.

Baldur's Gate and Planescape: Torment had amazing stories. I feel like it's an art that has been lost.

My favourite RPG's are the Dragon Age Origins, Mass Effect series, The Witcher Series and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. The Fallout games are worth a look too.
