I'm studying japanese at an intermediate level, and I'm looking for Japanese games with relatively simple language to help me in my studies (killing two birds with one stone, if I find a game that's fun). Preferably the game should use kanji, but furigana would be helpful. Does anyone have any recommendations?EDIT: And it doesn't have to be a DS game, I just put the topic here 'cause I couldn't find a general gaming forum, and DS is a good choice for Japanese games, naturally.

Have you tried 'My Japanese coach'? Im not sure what dialect it is but for a DS game the 'X' coach games are amazing! I have my chinese coach, im very very happy with it.Of course, these games are educational games, not really playing games for fun.As for playing games... I have no idea.

Yeah, I tried it and it's good. However, now I'm looking for a game that's not an educational game, but a "real" game in order to practice reading actual Japanese, not "text book sentences". Sorry if I was unclear about that in my original post. Thanks for the reply however. Good recommendation, just not what I'm looking for now.

Yea a realised that after i posted so i edited. I think the best thing to do would be to play a japanese version of your favorite game. Being your favorite game you will know what the basic story is about and letting you read japanese text aswell. We learn diffrently, but thats just how i would want to do it.Hope you find a game! :gbasp:

That's a pretty good idea, but most of my favorite console games are from the SNES era, and those games rarely use a full set of kanji (Chinese characters in Japanese), which I would like. Maybe I could go for a PSX favorite (like FFVIII), but they're difficuly to find in Japanese.
